Description

A small, quiet BLM trailhead parking lot for the Short Fence trail. Legal and almost no one passes by at night. Very quiet and calm area to spend a few nights. 35 min from Pinnacles. Not a huge spot so probably not ideal for bigger rigs. No amenities. FREE

Last option choice if both campgrounds are full. Came in with a low car too. Flat gravel lot. My friend and I set up camp for the night and wasn’t bothered all evening. We pitched a tent but there’s no way to stake anything down so I wouldn’t recommend staying here if it’s windy and you’re trying to tent camp.

Fire department came by next morning for some sort of exercise on the trail. They didn’t mind that we were camping here.

the road leading from the 25 is paved but rough and it's almost 10 miles from the main road. it really is the closest free site to pinnacles national park. seriously not big rig friendly. the lot is very small and the driveway is bumpy and steep. we barely squeezed in and we were taking up almost half the lot just being parked there. 25 ft skoolie. if there were any closer options to the park I would not have stayed here.

Decent option if the campgrounds are full. The lot is mostly flat gravel, and easy to access even in the dark/rain. This is right on the edge of where the BLM land starts. I do not recommend trying to camp along the road before this spot. Past this spot, there are a few flat turnouts on the road that would also make decent camping options, but the road sees a decent amount of traffic, and all spots are right on top of the road. The forest service roads (there are 2) are closed and gated. Don’t come to this area expecting to find remote boondocking options. The hike from this spot is overgrown and very short, so you likely won’t see traffic from folks trying to access the trail. Overall, not a bad option if you’re looking for a legal place to camp close-ish to Pinnacles or if the campgrounds are full, but it’s nothing special.

Not the best. Especially based on the long drive in. There are much better pull outs on the drive in. Not sure they are BLM.
