Description

Nice stop in Shamkaahl Valley.
Several spots during the drive through this nice valley. Accessible also without 4x4 but rough road. Your van/truck should not be too big. The valley is very narrow.

Latest Check-Ins

Take the dirt road to the right before reaching the village. Then follow the river bed how far you like. We didn't drive too far and stayed at the mouth of the canyon. Some kind villagers came to say hi.

Report Check-In

We did not want to park before or in the village so we drove up the old mountain pass road west of the vill8 age. Only very few cars passed in the evening, several flat spots within the first 3 km going south.

Great canyon. Take a right just before you drive into the village and follow the tracks into the stream. Not so many level places to park a vehicle easily inside the canyon if you want to spend the night. Opposite the marked spot, there are also some picknick platforms in the bushes if you have a tent. You can drive until a bit after the small fenced complex of tourist rooms for rent, before big boulders block your way and you have to turn around. It’s a rough track and I would not be very comfortable driving without 4wd and a bit of high clearance, as you drive through the rocky riverbed most of the way. Hikers in weekend and owner of rooms drives his Jeep in and out.
