There is one small spot for street parking at the end of the road to the left, right before crossing the bridge to the archeological site. The Cafe owner across the street and also the police who was patrolling at night told us we could sleep there. Very quiet at night till the early morning. No infrastructure, but the coffee place has a clean bathroom. Big tour buses park here so big rigs should be OK here too. Not really suitable for tents.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Nice archaeological site, dating from 1500 to 500 BC. There are beautiful places, beautiful stelae and you can enter 3 underground galleries. Entrance costs 15 sol for adults, 2 sol for children (children 5 and under do not pay). Do not hesitate to take a walk in the village.
Report Check-InFlat spot just before you cross the bridge to the archeological site at Chavin. Quiet at night. Lots of foot traffic over the bridge at day break. 1 minute walk to the site and 2 minute walk to the scenic rectangular plaza in the heart of town. Roads are narrow and often blocked by other parked vehicles to reach the site and exit.
Report Check-InPas de parking a cote de l entree du site on stationne dans la rue. Pour dormir mieux vaut aller a cote du poste de police pres de la place d armes

I came here on Thursday and got in fine. Maybe was closed to due to construction? Main chamber is now lit so no need for a torch.
Report Check-InBeware! Only open on Tuesday and Sunday, 2 guards + others working on site but would not let us in! Very frustrating. Also, the road up from Huaraz is good up to the tunnel (4,500m) but from there on down it is awful, full of pot holes ( some big enough to drive in and out of) and lots of kids pretending to fill them in and wanting money. Extremely poor area so bring lots of small change.
Report Check-InGood level spots across river from ruin entrance. Ruins have clean bathrooms and so do restaurants. Dont forget to bring a flashlight when you go to the ruins.
Report Check-InThere is one small spot for street parking at the end of the road to the left, past the street light, right before the pavement ends and the bridge to the archeological site. The Cafe owner across the street and also the police who was patrolling at night told us we could sleep there. Very quiet at night till the early morning. No infrastructure, but the coffee place has a clean bathroom. The spot likely only opens up in the evening way after the site closes by 4pm, but there was other street parking in the meantime.
