The beach is very nice, there is shadow. But not much privacy, full of local people at this beach, with tents and all their camping stuff, cooking at the beach, with loud music even in week days.
Go to Playa hermosa instead, is more calm!!
~

Great place! Spend two nights at this lovely beach. Quiet, safe, and not to many people during weekdays.
Restaurants nearby (not very cheap, though). Reception was good, and we could pretty much park anywhere on the beach with our 4×4.

We arrived at 4pm on a Saturday and this beach was packed with cars and people. Later we also discovered that there was an open water swim competition as well. But we managed to find a spot and ended up staying two nights. The water was SO warm and the waves were really chill so it was great for swimming. Some people next to us ended up playing loud music at 1am with their speakers pointed directly at our vehicle. But we kindly asked them to just move the speakers to where they were hanging out and they had no problem.

We parked for two days/nights right on the beach, along with many other Ticos who were camping and enjoying family time over the weekend. Very busy on the weekend and almost completely empty on a Monday morning. We loved the experience of doing what Ticos do on the weekend: we grilled food and enjoyed cold beverages, we enjoyed a beach fire, we swam over and over again, we cherished the shade, and listened to lots of local amateur DJs spin their playlists. Police came by several times and everyone was following the minimal rules that exist in CR for beach camping. Several restaurants and services are available including showers and toilets. We enjoyed a Sunday eve meal at Coco’s which is spendy but very tasty. The waves are very gentle here and great for swimming. The grocery store at the junction with the highway may be the nicest/most expensive grocery store in the whole country, but if you want/need it, they’ve got it.

Arrived late on a Saturday and the place was packed but folks were starting to leave. Found a lovely spot towards the end of the dead end dirt track. Easy pull offs with shade and direct access to the sandy beach with some rocky shelves that are covered at high tide (cuidado!) Surf comes straight onto beach, so only body surfing here). Saw six pairs of macaws in flight!Good for van or jeep camping. Busy beach with locals during the weekend (family friendly; also young folks with boom boxes) but had the place to ourselves at night. Felt completely safe. Trash bins available; didn’t check out local restaurants for services.

Beach seemed clean to us. Plenty of trash cans around. Absolutely stunning view. Close to some excellent restaurants (try El Pelicano). Showers nextdoor came in handy too. Was a safe night, would definitely return here.

We stayed there for one night it was quiet and the police were checkin the area BUT when we woke up we were surprised to see how dirty (plastic and gabage everywhere) the beach was! We decided to go somewhere else to spend the day.
Attached you Will find some picture

We stayed two nights during the week without any problems. In fact, it was really calm and we could choose from various camping spots. There are more than ten spots available. The first evening we arrived at around 6 p.m. and had no problem to find an amazing spot. Like I said, we were there from Tuesday to Thursday. Had an amazing apero and sunset. We got groceries at the USA-style supermarket about five minutes drive at the main street (name Auto Mercado). It is huge and has everything, we even had fresh salmon from there. Shower (at the beach, cold) is 700 Colones and bathroom 500 colones. These facilities belong to the really tiny (they even don't sell fruits) supermarket "La Perla" and are open from about 7:30 a.m. to around10 p.m. There are rubbish bins that get emptied every morning. In the early morning (about 6 a.m.) usually some people arrive to walk on the beach with their dogs. The first night, we saw some people sleeping in their tents. We did not see any police patrols and the road is a dead end. All in all, a spot we would always come back to.

One of the best spot in which it is. Super accessible for all types of vehicle. Movement during the day. Absolute tranquility at night. You can access showers and bathrooms a few meters in the campsite. At the horseshoe entrance there is a "shopping" you can also use the bathroom and the wifi of the subway. We spent a week without problems.

Can get crowded on week ends. Nice bay. E few little restaurants

great spot!! we parked a little past the coordinates provided, plenty of space (especially during the week). we arrived Friday around 4pm, no problem finding a spot. stuck around for the weekend, it does get busy, tons of locals come out. it's pretty full between 9-5, or so. some loud music, but not too bad, most people leave around sunset. and the beach is really nice, the ocean is great for swimming, surfing, not so much. there are a few restaurants on this road, providing bathrooms and showers and a small campground past them, that provides bathrooms and showers as well. all around $300-500 colones pp. there are trash cans as well. we felt pretty safe, slept with our back doors open, nothing got stolen. highly recommend! there is also a really nice grocery store when you turn off the main road, and a little tienda near-by as well...

nice place to sleeping in a tent or car. Out of commercial. Local amigos only ;)

We had 3 nights with a 24 feet. On weekends there are many people but the sunset will find anyone anymore. If you plan to get there Saturday or Sunday morning you need to be before 07 AM to be on finding a place. The beach is very large, not dangerous, very clean. Safe and Free.

Awesome beach - with gentle waves for children. And just the right calmness for adults to do a long swim in the bay. We intended to stay 2 nights but ended up staying for 4 because the waves were so fun for our kids, the breeze perfect at night to cool the roof top tent. Arrived on Thursday and we were the only campers. Left on Sunday and the entire beach was packed with campers as we were here during winter school holidays and lots of families from SJ here. We enjoyed long chats with local families over the fire and our kids enjoyed someone to play with. If you want a quiet beach, go mid week! Also saw the Scarlett Macaws every day and iguanas in the trees.

2 restaurants de fruits de mer dispendieux pour nous 8 à 10000c l'assiette. set up camp just after sunset as people were packing up and leaving. we were very close to a house that offers showers and toilets. huge mistake. after 11pm the beach became louder and louder as families arrived and partied until 2am. maybe it's better near the end of the road. lots of trash left on the beach. That said, it is safe with frequent police patrols.

Perfect little beach. Its mango season right now, so pick your own juicy mangos from the public land.
