Free, legal lakeside camping on state lands just off the freeway. Roads are dirt with muddy spots and mild washboarding. I found a site near a pit toilet. Fire rings installed, but "no campfires" signs posted.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
great spot close to 94. besides the road noise this would be an ideal spot! good for any size rig, clean pit/vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings. 10 miles of shoreline with a lake filled with fish. we stayed 3 nights and would stop again if in the area.
Report Check-InNice place and easy to find off 39th Ave exit. GPS coordinates tried to take me to a completely different place 2 exits away. Arrived at 8:30 pm and drove around a bit. Didn’t come across any other campers.
Report Check-InGreat area for a quick rest or even a hang out. We got in when it was dark, about 9:30, and followed the signs to the boat ramp. On the left was Picnic Pavilion 2. We parked there and it was right next to the toilets. We were up and out but the sunrise over the lake was gorgeous.
Report Check-InOn the west side of the lake. Grassy area, picnic table, fire ring. Under power lines but on the water. A few other campers nearby but overall quiet except for mild highway sounds. We didn’t see any pit toilets on the west side.
Report Check-InBeautiful lake with several free camping areas. Some right on the water, some a little up above. Lots of geese and pelicans. Boat ramps. Toilets. Quite and beautiful sunsets. No electric. Some pavilions .. shade or no shade.
Report Check-InWoW!!! Quel beau spot pour arrêter une nuit. Grande tranquillité et wildlife incomparable. Nous sommes en VR et nous tirons notre voiture, très facile à se stationner sans rien défaire. Un bijou.
Report Check-InCouple miles off I94 along a pretty reservoir filled with reeds and ducks. Many sites with picnic table and fire rings. Some trees for shade. Good breeze across the water helping to keep it cooler on a very hot summer day. Fantastic Verizon and AT&T. Under the power lines on a small peninsula jutting into the reservoir. Mostly quiet, though there is a little road noise from the interstate. Very nice that it's legal and free.
Report Check-Inthis place was so nice. the campsites were on this little peninsula with the lake on all sides. there was a big power line tower there but it was no bother. there were pit toilets and the most amazing constant breeze/wind coming off the water. it was a much needed cool relief from the heat, as we were coming off one of the triple digit heat waves. it was easy access from the highway and Bismarck was about 30 minutes away. we spent 2 nights. also the person who mentioned pelicans was absolutely correct they are everywhere and so cool to look at!
Report Check-InThis is a really great I94 stop, easy access from the highway with really nice spots on the lake. Came in Friday night and it was mostly full but still found a good spot.
Report Check-InWhat a beautiful spot. Midweek June 2021, virtually the only ones here, save for the PELICANS, geese, ducks, and assorted others.others. .otherswonderfulbreeze brbreeze
Report Check-InPerfect camping. Nice and cool and quiet. Minimal bugs. Got a level spot right on the water.
Report Check-InThis is a great spot. Camp most anywhere around the lake, but the peninsula is farthest from the highway. No one but us, the owls, geese, ducks. Took a walk and ate dinner at the picnic table. Perfect stop off.
Report Check-InGreat location, many spots and all are well spaced out around the whole lake. 3 bars on Verizon (Spectrum Mobile)
Report Check-Innice shades area with lots of sun too. Relatively quiet, about a mile from the freeway.
Facilities are clean and easy to use.
Great spot. Free! A few different camping spots available and suitable for big rigs. Definitely approach from the west though, not the east. The east route will take you on a rutted and muddy dirt road that is impassable for 2wd. West route is over almost the whole way and the dirt road section is well cared for with only a little washboard. Lovely views of the lake.
Report Check-InGreat quiet spot. Stayed for 2 nights. Maximum stay is 10 days. There are quite a few spots here, not just the one pinned. Nice breezes to keep the bugs away and keep us cool without running the air conditioner.
Report Check-InAwesome campsite! Great view over the water. Drop toilet was clean and stocked with toilet paper. Highly recommended campsite!
