Description

This is the first small lake within the Wildhorse Provincial park. If you keep down the same road, you will get to the Wildhorse lake rec. site. The road in was quite rough, especially in the spring. The rec. site costs 23$ from May 1st until October 1st, but during the off season it’s free. Some of the sites are for reservations only, others are first come first serve.
There is a beautiful view of the mountains, and the lake is stunning, blooming with marsh birds. They have a shed of already cut wood to use and fishing is allowed on the lake if you have the proper permit. Highly recommend for a good Alberta Rec. Site.

Kinky lake, great name, great campsite. We stayed here all alone in the middle of August, you can ring and reserve as there are only 8 spots. Gravel road to get there was a bit gnarly but the lake is gorgeous! Bring cash to pay

Nice spot on the lake. It was a gravel parking lot style campground but uncrowded so still nice. The camp down the way was more of the trees separating sites type, but I stayed here since it had best access to hand launch my kayak from the site.

Camped here for one night, toilets were nasty but other than that a great camp site since its for free in winter. Wouldnt pay 23 Cad though

Nice clean and quiet camping spots near the lake for free. If you go down the road a bit further you hit Wildhorse Lake Campground for more options. The road is a bit bumpy but just from pot holes. Bathrooms are still open regardless of winter weather as of 10/26. There is a bunch of free firewood as well.
