Very interesting and cool lost place.
our guide was very astonished about the fact that they built the train tracks in only one year. she missed to mention that this was based on the concentration camp in Lüderitz where 1300 Mamas and Hereros died due to the cold circumstances while they built the train track to Aus in only one year. it's very detailed explained in the Wikipedia article. Maybe asked your guide about it.
N$130 pp for access while the place is open, from 08:00-13:00.
Or N$330 pp for the ‘photography permit’, which permits you access sunrise to sunset, even when the place is otherwise closed.
Credit card payment accepted.
Definitely worth doing the tour as you will get a much better understanding of the place, the history and the lifestyle. Tours start at 9.30 or 11 and are offered in German or English. Allow yourself enough time to explorer the rest of town on yourself.
Report Check-InNow it’s 130 NAD pp. It’s not necessary reservation for the tour, just be in the place before the beginning. Nicole is a great and funny guide. All staff is nice, and the gifts shop and restaurant have good options.
Report Check-InGo early. Can easily spend 4 hours if you want to explore the full place. Tour was meh. Guide was very muffled (old guy called mike i think), and spoke very fast. and also only entertained the german tourists…
Report Check-InAs said before opening hours are between 8:00h -13:00h. Afternoon visits are possible with a permit that you can buy at the Desert Deli in town (next to the Spar supermarket).
120 NAD morning
320 NAD afternoon (then you have everything by yourself and get a code to open the gate)
Price is now N$120 pp. still really worth the price. Free tours leave at 9.30 and 11.00, in English or German. Open between 8 am and 1 pm
Report Check-InVery impressive old mining town aka Ghost town, guide included in entrance fee, so worth it
Report Check-InEntry fee is 100 pp. Doesn't matter if you in for the tour or not, so it's worth doing the tour. It is nice and informative.
Opening hours are 08:00-13:00 everyday.
Tour hours:
Monday - Saturday : 09:30, 11:00.
Sunday : 10:00.
Tour takes around 45 mins
Turned up on a Sunday at 9.30, tour started at 10, only one of the day. Closes at 1pm every day. Very interesting and definitely worth it. 100 per person.
Report Check-Instill 100 ND pp, tours start at 9:30 and 11. Because the wind can be quite awful, we were advised to take the first tour and that paid off.
Report Check-InTours are available again at 100 NAD pp, it was very interesting. We didn't pre-book and just paid at the gate. As we arrived the gate was closed but we called the number written on the building and staff came to open and gave us a tour. It lasts 45 mins and then you are free to walk around and take photos. Opening times as before, 8am - 1pm.
Report Check-InUpdate on the price: 100 nad pp.
We arrived at 11am and saw only 2 other people while strolling around.
Report Check-InRecommended to join the tour to get some more informations about the lifestyle, the building and the whole history. No bookings in advance necessary. You can purcase your ticket directly at the gate or in town at the tourist office. Better to be there a little bit earlier before the tour starts, because there are no overland busses around and you can enjoy the quit which is much better for a ghost town ;-)
Tour is based on a small tip. Different languages available.
Interesting tour 90n$ per person between 8&11am. Afternoon fees are 350n$ per person now!
Report Check-InOpen 8am to 1pm, with guided tours 9:30 & 11:00. N$90 per adult entry permit for this period. Interesting short tour followed by the opportunity to explore on your own. Good restaurant/coffee shop.
If you are interested in photography then it's worth paying for the permit that allows you entry from sunrise to sunset (N$235 per person), as it enables you to explore on your own when it is otherwise closed to the public. Beware it gets VERY windy in the afternoon though, and you will get sandblasted walking between the buildings!
Report Check-InOld abandoned mining village. 8-13hrs N$90 for a guided tour, otherwise you can only enter later for a whopping N$235 to see the sunset, which is absurd actually for some old buildings.
