Description

Old country house with a wonderful botanical garden, rose garden and orchid house. Beautiful old salon in the hotel, good food and friendly service. Nice campsite with simple but clean facilities at the end of the park under tall trees.
There are a few staff houses behind the campsite, so there may be slight disturbances at the weekend.
Registration at the hotel reception.

Latest Check-Ins

Not worth 15$ per person per night. Id messaged the number on WhatsApp the day before to ask about price and availability and was told 10$ each but it was $15each when we arrived. The gardens are nice and the restaurant has food and drinks (5$ a beer, 15$ for a burger). Just the men's toilet at the campground was open and no light until after 6:30 when a worker came to sort out hot water for us but after an hour they couldn't get it working.
If it was a bit cheaper I would have been fine with the cold shower and lack of facilities, but 30$ for us is pricey for what we got.

Food is really good! We had a 3 course menu for $25. Price for the campsite is now $15 pppn. The geyser was turned on for us as we were the only ones at the campsite, but it seems to be broken again as unfortunately we had a cold shower. Still worth a stopover.

Lovely peaceful camping area set aside by the hotel at $10 pppn. It has flat ground, lush green lawn, tons of shade and in a beautiful setting with an ablution block nearby. A welcome place to rest after a couple of tough days driving.

They now have a gas boiler at the ablution so I had a really good hot shower. The extensive gardens are beautiful and well worth a wander around. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to explore further but there are a few short hikes around too.

The hotel has been tastefully done, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. They have a 3-course set menu for dinner for $30, and you can choose just to have a main for $20. We had excellently cooked steaks. All in all a really good stopover or place to stay for a bit longer.

Get in touch with them on Whatsapp on +263714610803. They were very quick to respond.

We stopped to have lunch and visit the Botanical garden and Orchid nursery. Friendly staff and beautiful lunch on veranda. History very interesting. Worth to visit, tar road. Only last 2.5km good gravel. Worth it for 5$ which we did not need to pay as we had lunch.

This beautiful campsite does still exist. Camping on gras under big trees is a pleasure after all the sand tracks. The rose garden is also still there and a wonderful Ambiente in the hotel, where they treated me (camper) as all the other hotel guests. the ablution are basic but functional and they cleaned it when I arrived - seems there haven't been many camper lately-
there is an orchid nursery and a huge botanical garden where one can walk for hours. a peaceful and beautiful place to relax.
I paid $10ppn
only downside was the broken geyser, so no hot shower but one can live with it

La Rochelle is particularly beautiful at this time of year (end of September / beginning of October): the roses are in full bloom and the orchids in the orchid house are indescribable. The romantic botanical garden with the chirping of birds is also worth a walk. The food is not cheap but very good. A small meal (lunch) costs US$ 12 including a soft drink pp. The campsite is simple but clean. US$ 10 per night per person.

Beautiful, park-like environment. Belonging to La Rochelle Country House and botanic garden. The Country House and gardens are very well maintained and stylish, when we visited the ablutions were poorly maintained and dirty. We got a key of one of the rooms of the lodge to use the shower. we were told that the ablutions would be renovated at the end of August 2015.
USD 10 per person per night.
