Very nice campsite near the Puma gas station. The sites are protected from the wind and very private. Clean ablution. Hikes to do around.

180N$/night

Report Check-In

Not the most beautiful surroundings for a camping but the campsites are very nice with luxurious private ablutions. 2 of them even have a big wooden table and benches (n°3 and 4). Unstable wifi at camp, good mtc signal (4G). Shade almost all day. Fresh at night and not so hot during the day late april (high altitude). Friendly cat hanging around. Our 3 nights there were silents and peaceful (even saturday night), with a few barking noises every so often in the evening. I was seak and also needed to work on the car, so it was the perfect place for us to relax.
There is no reception at the camp, you need to go check in at the shop next door with the very friendly grandma owner. We got a warm welcome here, way better than at the hoity-toity Klein Aus outside of town (wich was our first option but fully booked for days).
180 pppn. She higly prefers cash.

I’m surprised with the positive review.

There’s wifi, but only at the gate (you use the wifi from the petrol station).

Gate doesn’t lock.

120 for a motorcycle and one person.

Difficult ground to insert tent pegs.

Good for the price but I’ve stayed in better places.

We debated the options for camping in the area and Aus Haven won since they have electricity at their sites (the other didn't). We paid $360 for two adults with own ablution, but since we were four adults travelling together our nightly cost was just $560. The good news is that we also heard no barking dogs at night. Connected to the wifi but it said internet not available. I had already bought an MTC sim card for my phone and I got very decent connection (48mbps down and 1.3 up). The owner went out of her way to help us, making a booking at the hotel for dinner for us, loaning us a mattress pump, and checking in on us to see all was well. We are spending two nights. What a lovely place. Overall, an above average stay. Would not hesitate to stay here again if we passed by.

Add: there were no dogs barking the whole time. One Car Poser with a loud exhaust at around 8 pm and that‘s it. It was a very quiet night. Hot water also in the morning (geyser) - recommendation.

Beautiful nice little Campsite. Absolutely clean facilities. If you are looking for an overnight spot I can recommend this site.

Report Check-In

Nice campsite in the middle of the town Aus.
You have your own super clean ablutions, beautiful tiles and finishings.
Friendly staff.
PS: please can anyone do something about the constant barking of the 2 dogs in Aus? Can someone just ask the owners of the dogs to, when they hear them barking, to quiet them down. We also have dogs at home, and when the start barking [for no reason at all] we manage to always quiet them down.

Good place to check in and stay if one needs to. Private ablutions power water and shade. Just bring ear plugs as the dogs don't stop barking.

Nice campsite, friendly owner. very clean and nice bathroom facilities. Noisy during the night, but it was New Year.

Report Check-In

The village itself has nothing to offer and campsite is in the owner's yard but it gives you a safe stop over on a long run to Luderitz. The high walls keep winds out and private ablutions are very nice. Noise is definitely an issue here as you have people on the street behind the fence shouting until late at night. We stayed there 2 nights at 180 NAD pppn and it was noisy both nights. Owner is very nice.

Report Check-In

The best bathrooms in Africa. What a revelation to find such a gem in the middle of nowhere. Stayed 2 nights because the camp is so nice. Private ablution and kitchen and loads of plug points. I pitched my tent under the huge overhang. For N$180 it's value for money.

Excellent place! Choice between 120pppn (as described below) or 180pppn with own abolutions, braai & wifi. Very clean & well equiped; found it to be great value for money. No great views, but the convenience of having a one-stop place & very friendly hosts compensates fully. Had an issue with my motorcycle & the hosts couldn‘t have been more helpful! Will be back!

Report Check-In

120 ppn with comunal bathrooms. Very clean, hot water good. But no scenery since you are in town in a bigger backyard. Only went there since Klein-Aus was full.

Report Check-In

Didn't expect to find such a lovely camp site here but after our car broke down we were made so welcome by the owners. Great private ablutions block with a fantastic shower. Neat pitches with concrete platform on which to put table. Spotlessly clean. Their son is the mechanic at the garage next door and even though it was a Sunday evening he kindly came to help us. Comfortable and quiet night.

Report Check-In

As described, good private ablutions, nice shelter from the wind. But nothing more. Still 180$N pp. We were unlucky and had one of our worst nights because the neighbors had a party with very loud music.

Best ablutions in a campsite that I've ever seen

Report Check-In

nice quiet camping place, with small private area. spotless clean with a brand new beautiful shower. typical village noise start at 06a.m. We paid 180 N$ each. No WiFi.

due to cold weather and rain we ask for the self catering room witch was very nice with tv; fully equipped kitchen and 2 rooms. we paid 700$ for one night for 2 adults and 2 children. friendly owners.

Closed for bathroom renovation until June 2018.
New upmarket campground from the same owners across the street (350 NAD with private bathroom). See my entry Aus Camping II.

Report Check-In

New campsite in Aus next to petrol station from the same owners as the camping place across the road. Features as their “luxury camping” as with private bathroom. 5 sites in courtyard, well sheltered from the wind, each with own bathroom, sink, cooking area. 3G mobile reception!350 for 2 people. Not very idyllic, but functional if price does not matter. Their other campground across the road is closed for renovation until June 2018 and Klein-Aus was full.

Report Check-In

The Campsite has been moved to a new and complete renovated area on the other side of the street. Each site has it's own ablution block now with spotless clean nice facilities. Electric Boiler, so always hot water. And lots of power points, incl. Euro connectors. Roofs over a concrete platform give shade. And you may well be on your own, cause the walls of the ablutions separate the stands. There's also one stand though, where two campers may stand together. Unfortunately they have raised prices: 175N$ per person now. But it's worth it, especially compared to lots of other places. Well folks, Namibia is becoming more and more expensive ...

And it should be mentioned, that the shop, which is also run by the owner, has also been renovated and enlarged.

Report Check-In

Small camping area in the heart of sleepy Aus. Price is right and good MTC signal so we stayed an extra day. Paid $N85 pppn. Showers hot and water pressure good. Little shop across the street in has a few basic items. Water, bananas, tomatoes. Also a Windhoek bank ATM. Diesel fuel too.

Report Check-In

Basic but nice place. Sandy places with braai, electricity and light. Good hot shower. Quiet. Wifi in the gas station, 5 meters from the camp. 85 pppn.

Report Check-In

very nice little campsite opposite to the filling station, which is the reception :-)
We had WiFi, the Ablution was ok and the owners are very friendly. We had dinner at the Aus Bahnhof Hotel and it was great !!!! we loved it there

Report Check-In

Small campsite in the courtyard. Electricity at sites, hot shower in ablution block. Dinner in the nearby Bahnhof Hotel is very recommandable! Now 85$ppn, children under 13 half price. Small entrance gate, but possible with the truck.

Report Check-In

I love that place. You always meet some travellers from all over the world. 100m away is Bahnhof Hotel & Restaurant. Germany rooted family knows to cook very tasty. ★☆★

Report Check-In

Really lovely little place! Electricity at sites, December facilities and only 75N$. Can visit the POW camp by car and the town is really lovely! Good stop off or alternative to staying in luderitz.
