Something not right?

Description

Quiet place in the national forest, higher up so not likely to flood/flash flood. Slick in the rain. One flat spot around 0.7 mile from the 160 (original poster said 1 mile/24 foot rig but we didn't go look due to bad weather --our location matches original poster's location). Great spot, roomy for 2 small tents and a small SUV (although if original poster got his 24' in here? I can't imagine getting mine in here.)

Before we reached this spot, just inside the NF gate there was a small pull out to the right, could probably squeeze a small or midsize SUV in there without blocking access. A van would be too big.

Come in on devil's access (NF sign by Hwy) go about 0.7 mile, spot is on the left hand side after a curve to the right and before the next curve to the right as you go up slope. Fire ring is already there.

The road is no worse than what I drove at the NF campground before coming up here. it's got ruts, potholes, rocks, it's slippery in the rain, surprisingly no washboards....yet. I'm glad we came here.

Latest Check-Ins

I was able to get 2 to 3 bars with a cell booster. There is a T-Mobile tower close see the picture.

Report Check-In

The road is a bit bumpy and narrow I would not wanna drive it at night. I had no problem in my short transit van 2 Wheel Drive. I would not wanna go further up past the one pull out. No real place to turn around except at the camp site. 4x4 may be needed to go further up the road. This site is not very obvious and could easily be missed at night. There is a fire ring but not noticeable from the road.

Report Check-In

Road to the designated spot is a little washed out, some clearance might help, 4x4 not necessary. Place itself is quite level and nice, but not for big rigs. Ours is 24 ft and was perfect, see pictures.

(Note: We hiked the road further up, there are some more beautiful and even larger spots, but from the first spot on, the road gets rocky and really bad. If you’re traveling with a pickup truck or have some more clearance, go for it, the views are great up there! 4x4 might help after rain.)

Report Check-In

Off forest service devil's access road just east/south of the restaurant/RV park. There is a sign on the road. The road itself could be worse, it's moderately rutted, potholed, steepish with minimal shoulder. Some areas are rocky and could blow a tire. It's rainy today and the road is slick. In the dark the road may seem worse. I wouldn't want to turn around in the dark. I think I'm safe from zombies but I'll put the curtains up just in case. The spot has a place for a tent, and a fire ring is already assembled. One small level area to park if you are sleeping in a small SUV and that's directly adjacent to the road. No ATT service.

Report Check-In

We tried to stay here late at night while passing through. The road is horrible. Only one real pull out. Not easy to turn around. We ended up leaving because we were unable to find a spot for our camper van .

Report Check-In

Very quiet place in the national forest, one place flat around 1 mile from the 160. Ok for our 24 ft, may be not to much more...
