Description

Great campsite set up by the owners Dennis & Martha of the Lake Hotel. Amazing spot with loads of amazing, stunning, spots on the property with great views of the Lake. They have great spots to relax in the garden. We absolutely enjoyed staying with them. They can offer breakfast, dinners and boatrides and probably more. We payed 40.000 per night / per van for 2 people.
Good location within reach of the Piedra, Guatape and Peñol. They can drive you to the Piedra & pick you up at Guatape with the boat.
The dog, Frida, is a lovely dog and super friendly. Pets are welcome!

Stayed a night. Beautiful lakeside spot. 30,000 per person. You can no longer drive to lakeside spots shown in photos. Parking/camping is either in very tight parking area right by the house, or 4x4 crawl down very steep grassy hill to get some space near the water.

Report Check-In

Lovely spot next to the lake. For cyclists: it's an undulating 5km detour off the road to Guatape, and a steep entrance but I felt it was worth it. Once you're down you can get a bike to your pitch. Dennis and Marta, and their family, were friendly and welcoming. Details on website seem to be slightly out of date: instead of 30,000COP for camping with your own tent including breakfast, it was 25,000 + 13,000 for breakfast which was nice but limited. Other meals available but limited options and a little pricey. Only one bathroom-shower which might be an issue if it's very busy but I didn't have any problems.

saw the steep and rough and decided to pass as we have a ford transit. you would need a high clearance 4x4 to go down

Report Check-In

Amazing place and a beautiful family making you feel at home. Dennis cooks an incredibly tasty pizza. We could use a rooftop tent over a parking spot 25.000 COP ppn. Pets are allowed.

Report Check-In

Nice place at the lake of Guatapé. The family is very friendly. We stayed for one night and paid 50'000 COP for two persons in a van.

Report Check-In

Amazing stay, friendly and welcoming hosts, good food, better prices, beautiful property with fruit trees and lakeside access.
50,000 cop for parking, we recommend calling or texting Dennis ahead of time because parking is limited, not for bigger rigs but small to medium should fit fine.
When entering the drive way be careful, there is a very steep drop off, it’s better to pass it, turn around and enter from the other direction.

Report Check-In

Awesome place to relax. Not a ton of place for overlander parking but it checks all the boxes. Recommend what’sapp Dennis before arrive. Once there all is taken care of. Highly recommend.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place next to the lake. Tents can stay on the grassy part with an amazing view, vans stay in the carpark. There is an area to enjoy the view with tables, chairs and hammocks. The kitchen can be used and there is a clean bathroom with warm showers - all you need as an overlander. The narrow street could be a problem for big rigs, as already mentioned in previous comments.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place with access to lake. No recomend motorhome, only tents.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place with lake shore, with an excellent view. Typical farm house, very cozy. Its owners Marta and Dennis are very friendly, with good advice on what to do on the area. Near Guatape and El Peñol. $ 40,000 Cop per night. I recommend The Lake Hotel Camping and B&B!

Easy driving all the way. Campers stay in their carpark so whatsapp/phone (+57 3115100856 or +57 3213161042) ahead to check they have space. If you have a tent you can pitch it right down by the water which is spectacular (you may even want to hire one of their tents to do this if you are in a campervan). Dennis (who is from Illinois) has many interesting stories to tell, make sure you sit down of an evening and share a magurita with him. He does boat trips, hires out standup paddleboards, breakfast and pizzas are also avaliable.

Very nice place to stay by the lake. Marta is a great host, very lovely and concerned about our well been. Has all the amenities and a beautiful nature around. For us with a 23 feet RV was a bit too tight to come in and out, but possible. Bigger rigs won't be able to come in. They are planning a renovation and expansion for 2020.

WoW! This is the place to be in between Guatape and El Peñol ...awesome hosts, charming old style finca with private rooms or dorm beds or overland parking! Fantastic lake view with boat tours or paddle boarding available. Food/beers available or cook yourself.
Pet friendly, the entire place including their dogs feel like family.
SupersiZe Overlanders won’t fit but everything else is fine, gate width 10’ no height restriction but parking allowing for turn around allows for about 3 rigs.
Cheap bus rides to town on the newly paved road. Great place and they do have other fincas/spaces if this doesn’t work for ya.

Hola! Some updates... road is paved and open, gate is extended to 10’ wide, and so far over Easter week we are closed April 16,17,18,19. Happy travels. Dennis and Martha

Hello Overlanders! We have no availability until January 2nd, hope to see u soon. Thanks Dennis

The Lake Hotel is a beautiful place to stay, the owners are amazing and friendly and will help you with everything you need. We loved it there. A little heads up, if you go on the rainy season you better have 4*4, it gets muddy and we got stuck with our 2wd sprinter (but we also had completely bold tires so...) but the owner and the other amazing overlanders that were staying there helped us and we were good to go. Awsome place!

The attached photos are a bit deceiving as they show a 4x4 with roof top tent, this is only possible if their height is low, the ground is dry and the access way clear.....allot of variables. There is only one flat area to camp and we rode our bike down but had trouble getting back up due to the wet ground. As mentioned if you have a camper best if you park up the top on the road and walk down first to check the access and to confirm there is a parking spot available. Maps me took us to a locked gated, just drive another 100mtrs to a sharp RH turn to access the hotel. Cost was 15000pp to camp and our stay was good......but from the photos we thought there was a big, flat, easily accessible area to camp.....this wasnt the case

We had a wonderful visit here. The road is bumpy but may be paved soon. Bring supplies and plan to stay a few days (or a week like us!). Use of bathroom, kitchen, water, electric. Swimming in lake. Gate is 8 ft wide. Parking at house if you fit, or a short walk if you don’t. When you arrive, park at the top and walk down to check it out. This place is relaxing, beautiful and welcoming. You DO want to visit here.

Report Check-In

You can park your van in front of the house at the parking lot of Dennis and Martha, a friendly couple. The backyard of their house offers views on the lake where you can sit or take the hammock, but it is not possible to access the yard by van or park here. We could use their kitchen and they have a hot shower as well. The only downside is the 5km long dirt road with a lot of potholes and bumbs to reach their place, so consider if you think this is worth it!
