CLOSED-Private Property. Do not pass NO TRESSPASSING sign. I was physically stopped by Sheriff with Red/Blue Lights flashing 100 yards passed NO TRESPASSING sign. Nice Officer enforcing land owners request. Patrolled Daily.

Report Check-In

This place should be marked as closed. There is a sign that looks very new, that says camping is not allowed. Too bad, looks nice!

This is a great BLM free camping spot where tons of snowbirds park in the winter time. It is a large area so you don't feel too closed in, and it is close to Borrego Springs. The public library in town has fast, and free wifi and the new building is beautiful. There are also two grocery stores in town and gas stations. We will definitely be back since it is such a peaceful and convenient spot.

Don’t hesitate to follow rockhouse road all the way to the dry lake bed (Clark Lake). The road is well packed with only a bit of washboard. There are signs that prohibit vehicles on the lake, but it looks like a lot of folks do drive around on it. Just set up camp on the edge and walk or bike ride on the lake. Spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and few neighbors. I think people avoid it because you have to drive 2 miles more and there is no cell service.

We got here just after dark and there were lots of spaces to pull off and camp for the night. People camping here were quiet when we got here. Apparently just as fond of sleep as we are. Someone nearby started their generator around 8 am. There are lots of spots farther down in case you want to be a little more secluded.

Big gravel area along Rockhouse Trail to Clark Dry Lake on BLM Land close to Anza Borrego State Park. We shared the place with nearly 100 more campers on Saturday evening. But there is lots of space and people are quiet and mostly without ATVs.

Report Check-In

Not far from Pegleg Monument right off the highway. Semi paved road and dirt roads. Lots of level boondocking sites. No services. A little quieter than nearby Pegleg monument.
