Something not right?

Description

We were pleasantly surprised by this overnight stop after having crossed into Zim at Beitbridge. The campsite was not yet fully reopened post covid but they gave us a simple and nice rondavel for $20 (same as camping rate). There is a terrace overlooking a river and a thatched restaurant which serves good food. Overall a great stop for post-border weary travellers. WiFi takes a long time to connect, if it does at all.

What an incredible place. This is an geniune oasis and a definite stop. But don't just stop for one day, make it 2 or 3. So much history and a big five game reserve. This is a birders paradise. Camping now $15 per person but worth every cent.

cost 15$ pp per night, they can take card sometimes with a 3% fee of you're paying using a foreign card. The bar is cash only. camping is on the grass in front of chalets with access to a toilet and shower (no sink which is a bit odd). Overall a nice place to stop, a bit of shade with trees, the noise from the road isn't too bad.

Beautiful camp grounds. We paid $10USD per person to set up our tent. The only downside was that we got covered in ants. We were setting up in the dark so hadn't seen that the spot we were shown to set up in wasn't good. Aside from that, wonderful staff, beautiful spot and very conveniently located. It also had WiFi.

Nice place too kick back for evening. $10 pp camping. Pitching tent between bungalows

A good stopover 80km inside Zim from Beit Bridge. They have chalets but you can camp on the grass in between chalets for 10USD pp. They offered us ablutions for that as well but we had our own

Report Check-In

Camped by a chalet where we could use toilet and shower, no basin. Place is very well kept with a lovely garden and bird life. Camping now $15 pppn which we felt a bit pricey. Apparently cheap chalets available too. Convenient for the border.

Report Check-In

They are putting campers on the lawn between the chalets instead of in the old campground. We were given access to a chalet that had a working bathroom and electricity but no mattresses on the beds. We should've squatted in the chalet because we pitched our tent on an ants nest, which was awful as the ants got in everything. No credit card facilities but I was able to pay in Rands cash. $10pppn.

Right next to the busy A4 road, therefore very noisy.
Campsite and swimmingpool not open, we could use the bathroom of a chalet and camp in front of it. Nice garden.

Campsite has seen better times but is perfectly ok for a stop-over at USD 10.- pppn. The road is right next to the campsite, so pretty noisy. Old but clean & functioning abolutions. Good food at around USD 8.- a dish & a beer goes at USD 2.-. WiFi available at restaurant / reception.

Report Check-In

Totally run down place next to the road, the rest of the complex is partly ok. Good restaurant with reasonable prices and nice view of the river.
Only cold showers, because of no electricity, but nobody really cared.
Much two expensive with 30$ for two.
On the way to Masvingo there seem to be 2-3 more possibilities for camping.
3G connection with econet.

The owner is very friendly and tries to make the best out of this place even though circumstances are difficult in Zimbabwe. It is big grassy campsite, ablutions are ok but a bit run down. The pool is empty. Food at the restaurant was nice. It is a good Stopover on your way to South Africa.

Report Check-In

nice rooms also available for bargain (buy zim standards ) of $45 a night.
