Latest Check-Ins

Got here by bike, it is 20.000 per person for camping. A bit pricy for just a tent and 2 persons but the owner is very nice and the food was simple but good. Not too much noise from traffic.

Report Check-In

As expected at this time of year we were the only people staying overnight at Crocodile Camp. The campsites by the river offer only a table and chairs, a solar light in a tree (ours didn't work), no tap, very little shade and no bin for rubbish. The campers' ablutions are over 100 metres away and although the camp leaflet states hot showers, they weren't. As is so often the case a dysfunctional solar geyser was blamed. The biggest drawback is the constant and quite loud traffic noise from the passing trucks on the nearby T1 which will keep most sleepers awake for much of the night hours. The 40,000 TSh pn for two that they charged us was in our opinion over the top compared with our similar places on our trip.

Report Check-In

Nice campsite and Bungalows directly at the river.
Everything was very tidy.

Report Check-In

Stopped as as I cycled past the eating spot and there was nothing else for 30 kms.
The lunch feed was massive and a nice tranquil setting on the river.
Decided to stay and have 2 mince patties chips and a salad and was another massive feed and the 2 mince burgers where very nice.
35000tsh for a bungalow with bathroom as no one else here and was very very relaxing.
The young girl who serves here is lovely so take time to chat.
It’s about enjoying the trip and once and awhile it may cost a little bit more but for me it’s well worth it.

Report Check-In

Went to have lunch here, very expensive for what you get, which is basically nothing. We waited for over an hour when we were the only guests there, then got dry rice and some baby bananas for a dessert. The starter was not available but nevertheless they made us pay for the whole menu. Please even if hungry on the road, don't go here, you'll leave more hungry!

Report Check-In

I stopped for a “quick” lunch, but didn’t stay overnight.
No other guests except for eating.
No WiFi and no cell signal.
Toilets and showers looked clean.
I didn’t find the place very attractive, but maybe good for a stopover between Daressalam and Ruaha NP.

Very friendly and helpful stuff. Nice bar and restaurant with couches and everything you need for reasonable prices. Hot shower, clean and spacey. Western toilets. Place to wash clothes. Camping 15.000 Sh., firewood included. Bungalow 60.000 Sh. They also offer trekking tours, canoe trips, fishing. Spent 4 very nice days here.

Report Check-In

Clean and tidy campground. Wanted 20 000 in my own tent but could negotiate 10 000. Food is OK, a bit pricey though. Tap water should be potable but pretty salty. Keep in mind that there is no cell phone signal! (or maybe it's just my phone)

Report Check-In

We passed a nice night in our RTT. We camped in the shade between two cottages, overlooking the river. The campground is close to the road but we weren't bothered by the background road noise. The ablutions were nice and very clean. Jennifer and staff were nice. Great place to relax by the river with lots of shade (under trees or under huge restaurant/bar/lounge area). Paid 10,000pp.

Report Check-In

Good, Clean ablutions (No hot water when we were there)- it’s run by solar. Lovely camping spots right on the river. Heard elephants while sitting around the fire. As mentioned before T1 highway is 100m behind you so noisy with trucks. Good for one night stop. Ice cold beer available from the Resturant/Bar.

Report Check-In

We can't agree with the others, this camp is really worth to go there.
Easy access because it's directly at the main road.
New ablutions, big shower cabins, everything is absolutely clean.
Very nice bar and restaurant with fresh made food for reasonable prices.
Camping is still 10.000 TSH pP, unfortunately no electricity, because they have only solar.
We absolutely recommend, but don't forget your earplugs because of the main road nearby.

If you have a tent, watch out the cats. They did big damages to my tent while I was away.

Service pretty bad. Owner was not around...

Report Check-In

Camped here for 1 night as a stop over to Dar. It has flat camp spots all over the area with a braai stand and water, no electricity. Abolution block is new? It looks a bit worn out.

There is warm water available, but it is a donkey shower so they need to heat it up.

They also do activities around the area, but it can be quite pricey.

Don’t expect to have wifi here, but they are busy with it.

Place is secure and just from the main road. Can be noisy do to traffic.

Price is 10.000 pppn.

If you don’t need any facilities, wild camping can be a better option.

Report Check-In

Nice place to stay overnight, but not more. Clean and friendly, noisy from the highway.

Report Check-In

10,000 tzh pppn.
Owned by a nice Tanzanian/German couple. Most of the construction is done now and there's hot showers available. Good stop over between Iringa and Dar.
We were told canoeing was 100USD for a group so very expensive. Hiking was 20USD for a group.

Report Check-In

Some sort of construction going on at camp and noisy until 6:30pm. Construction started back up at 8am. No owners present and were told generator not working, which meant needed a torch to use the toilets. Only people here, so no hot shower.

Report Check-In

A nice, affordable, simple and clean campsite which although could be improved, is not anything to fret about as the beautiful river view is more than worth it. they have a sattelite phone service as normal cell signal is too weak. The property is secure and the staff are friendly. We give it 7on a scale of 10 and is certainly worth it as camping is very affordable at 5 US dollars though the bungalows on the river are the real attraction. very nice and clean ablution blocks for the campers. Canoeing and hiking activities offered. Would come back at the drop of a hat.

Report Check-In

Spacious camp with fantastic view of the Ruaha River. In dry season the Mikumi elephants can potentially be seen at Crocodile Camp as they seek the water. Campsites next to baobab trees with great bbq areas but doesnt overlook the river directly. During low season we stayed and only one of four camping toilets were working, and camping showers rely on donkey gysers so they dont light unless enough guests. Still showers are spacious and well designed and camping is in general great value at 10,000tsh (5usd) per person and beers 4,000tsh each. There is a restaurant that serves hot meals and fresh baked bread.

Report Check-In

Nice camping spots under the baobab trees. Has brai, electricity outlets (runs on generator in the evening for a few hours), hot shower (donkey). Restaurant has a good cook. No menu but some propositions when the times come to order. We had spaghetti Bolognese with meat ball and fresh salad for 13000tsh, it was perfectly prepared.

Report Check-In

The staff at the Crocodile Camp was friendly and welcoming. Camping is possible everywhere for 10.000 Tsh pp. Dinner in the restaurant is a stunning 3 course meal for 10.000 Tsh.
The area it self is very laid back, no reception. It is like Camping in the Bush, nice view on the Ruaha river.
