Beautiful spot on a green lawn right next to the water. Toilet is quite a climb up to the restaurant, they give you a key to shower in a room. Food in the restaurant was OK. There is Wifi but its not great, but we had good MTN reception. Staff all super friendly. We paid 20.000 for the family, they did not charge the kids so this was a cheap stop for us. (But we liked Maraville better.)
Report Check-InBeautiful place but unpleasant welcome by the young woman from the reception. A large tent blocks the passage to the camping spot. She gives a cottage for the shower and the shower does not run.
And if you want electricity it's 20000rwf extra. Crazy!!
We stay only one night.
Beautiful spot, right on the lake on a grassy lawn. All as others have said. Still 20,000 for two in a vehicle. Excellent signal on Vodacom.

Report Check-InGreat Place for stay. No loud music, silent night. great hot shower, and they could print our uganda visa aswell. Perfect. Food at the restaurant was not really good. here you can also start your boattrip to the napoleon island. For 3h it should cost arround 40'000Francs.
You can also walk to the cormoran lodge for a sundowner.

Beautiful place! A bit triggy with a big vehicle but doable! Great sundowner with delicious pizza and cold beer!🤪 20,000 ppn! Key to a room with shower and toilet. Can be recommended!
Report Check-InThis is now called Livalana Hotel. We stayed 4 nights, camped next to the lake, beautiful view and very peaceful. Took a boat trip, u can swim and canoe too. Lovely staff, free WiFi. We had use of a room for the bathroom, this was a bit run down but the water was hot and flowed well. We hiked independently around the headlands and also did part of the Nile/congo trail walking. restaurant and bar. 10000 rwf pppn
Report Check-InNice place as previously said but they asked for 20,000 RWF (2 adults 1 car rooftop tent) with the chalet for hot showers which we insisted we didn't need so the man at reception said he could reduce to 15,000 RWF even though we told them our friends came 3 days before and paid 10,000 RWF for the same as us. He said it was impossible. Later that day other campers came with 3 adults 1 car on a rooftop tent and paid 10,000 RWF per night! 😤 When we left I gave the equivalent of 10,000 per night to a lady at reception and she didn't say anything. So price will depend on who is at reception at that time... No wifi provided as another review says but great Mobile internet connection with MTN and Airtel.

Report Check-InNice place to park the car with RTT by the lake on the grass. They offered us a chalet for a hot shower and toilet. Place is well kept, fire pit and wood provided, staff happy to bring down drinks or food from restaurant and bar for lunch or dinner by the lake and fire pit. Electric sockets available and wifi(hot and miss) price mormal $15 but accepted $10. Also did a boat trip to the islands of Napoleon where we Hiked to the top for wow views, monkey Island and peace island which is closed. Speak to Eric who is the life guard. Special price 30k for the boat 2 1/2 hrs. Really worth it. Normal price 45k.
Report Check-InWe stayed here for 3 nights in our RTT. Best camping spot for us along Lake Kivu. Camping for two and access to a room for hot shower is 15 000 per night in total. Wifi worked well and even reached the camping. Power at the site. We swam in the lake every day and also went into town for a local meal. Boda boda is 500rwf into town. We would definitely recommend this place because of camping in close proximity to the lake and the spectacular views!

Report Check-InNice place directly located at the shore of Lake Kivu. We camped at the lawn at the lake next to a shabby broke down house, but view over the lake was great and staff was friendly. They gave us the key for a room where we could use the bathroom (hot shower). Food was good and they delivered it directly to our car/ campsite. Breakfast very basic. We recomment not to order scrambled eggs...

Report Check-InWhat a great place. They allow you to camp on their lawns right in the banks of Lake Kivu and for 15000 francs you also get a key for a room for ablutions. Norbert and all the staff are so accommodating and pleasant. The setting and views at absolutely incredible and an amazing place. Food in the restaurant is good and reasonable
Report Check-InThis was not what we expected following the last few reviews. The camp was next to a very broken down building and they wanted $15 pppn to camp. It’s not worth that! It’s a good location, but there are no facilities! We decided to carry on as it was not worth the price.

Report Check-InStunning camping spot. Easily top five after 2.5 years and 27 countries in Africa. Right on the lake, tons of green grass, surrounded by water and fresh breeze. Price was 15,000fr per "tent/camping car" including key to a room. As one person I negotiated to 10,000fr without a room key. Lake is perfect for swimming and there is a clean bathroom next to restaurant, so no need for room!

wow what a pleasant surprises. staff very friendly (especially Norbert) camping right in the lake and restaurants food is very good, if a bit slow so order early while you enjoy the views. definitely recommend staying here
Report Check-InFor us the best place to stay at Lake Kivu! Directly at the lakeshore, on green lawn, wonderfull view over the lake. Payed 10.000 RF for two and the truck as we told them that we don't need any facilities. But you can use the restrooms beside the restaurant and the lake is better than a shower... Enjoyed three days.

Yes, the spot is directly at the lake. Yes, the restaurant is OK.
But: The only place to park your car on a flat area (if you sleep in rooftop) is next to a abandonned building with smashed windows and a scratched old tent used as storage. So you have to focus on the lake behind you... 😉 For tents its better...
Beautiful camp on the lake. We negotiated to 10,000rwf for 2 people and our car because they had no rooms available to shower and only the restaurant toilet. Great place to swim as well!

A lovely spot in the garden of the hotel, right on the lake. After reading other comments we were prepared for big negotiations, but it was unnecessary. Straight away we were given the keys to a room for use of hot shower and toilet (all clean), plus power for charging batteries etc, and told camping would be 15,000RWF per tent per night.
We ended up staying three nights instead of one. Very peaceful with pied kingfisher nesting next to our camp and otters swimming past daily.
Restaurant service is slow (food OK) and some of the staff struggle to communicate at all in English. Your French language skills might come in handy!

They wanted 30000 pn at first for camping. Then they offered a discount: 20000 pn but wanted to charge a complete room rate extra for shower and toilet.
Report Check-InWe had lunch here. We didn't stay overnight but the camping spot looked fantastic and in hopes of getting us to stay they offered the camping for 5000 ppn. The food was decent but incredibly slow, maybe call ahead and order a couple of hours before you want to eat.

Unfriendly staff though, and - more importantly- very expensive! they asked 20.000 francs pppn which after long negotiations I managed to get down to 15.000. Room for ablutions (also no. 6) was clean and shower was hot. Room is pretty far away from campsite. Didn't try the restaurant.

Report Check-InCamped here for 2 nights, could stay in the garden in front of the hotel with nice view over the lake. We got a key to a room for toilet and hot shower. There is somewhere in the garden a power outlet so if you have a long extention cord you can charge at the campsite. Wifi is ok, food is ok but takes a while. We paid 15.000 rf per night 2 person
