Uruguay => Argentina

Took us 2hrs to go through just because it was on a weekend and there was a very long line to get to the border. Once at the border it took about 20 minutes. Very easy drive through border with friendly staff. I would suggest to not cross over on a weekend.

Border crossing Argentina to Uruguay: Easy all-in-one border crossing, first migration (both countries), then toll Argentina (counter 1), then toll Uruguay (counter 16). Very friendly, well organized and quick. Nobody inspected the car. But be aware: potentially not even cheese is allowed (besides the well-known forbidden items, like meat, fruit and vegetables...).

Leaving Argentina and entering Uruguay - 15 minutes (no cake,though) on a Monday afternoon, almost no border traffic. Were asked to park our camper at the side parking lot, but no checks of the interior. Friendly, fast, efficient.

Argentina to Uruguay, Easiest Border crossing since leaving the US. Even got free cake from the Aduana Official. No Argentinian Immigration or Aduana. Just hand your TIP in to the official as you pull up. Uruguay Immigration next, Quick stamp, then on to Aduana. took about 15 minutes on a Sunday morning. Can't promise you cake though.

Drive through exit from Argentina - didn’t need to leave the car! Painless and standard border crossing. They didn’t check our van to enter Uruguay & gave us a year long TIP. No insurance is required in Uruguay.

Argentina to Uruguay
The entry below mine is the most accurate to our experience.
Just to clarify because we were confused upon arrival: you should park your car and walk to the booth that says #1 (it’s on the left). The Uruguayan migraciones and aduana are then held in the booth on the right side (the numbers for the ones we used were 12 and 16).

This is one of the more organized border crossings we’ve been to and somehow found it more confusing that usual!

Argentina ->Uruguay

1 Pass through truck aduana buildings in Argentina.
2 Drive over bridge into Uruguay and pay toll for bridge.
3 Follow signs and drive through to available booth window for combined Argentina and Uruguay migrations. Right lane for casa rodante and trailers.
4 Both exit for Arg on computer and entry into Uru passport stamp are done by one person. Also a small pink paper slip given to show at the end.
5 Drive on to next booth number instructed. For us #16. They had us park outside the lanes and walk back with car paperwork- title and registration for our US registered car and TIP from Arg. New Uru TIP good for one year given.
6 Follow signs for salida. One last booth to stop at and turn in small pink paper.
Process for us on a Tuesday morning in April at 8:30 am was less than 30 minutes. Nobody asked us about food or looked at or in our vehicle.

It's a 24h border. We passed at 1h30am and they made the tip too at this hour. And super friendly. Passeport in any case, after given the uruguayan tip at Casa 1, made the formalities for the vehicle at 16.

Crossing from Uruguay to Argentina. User Brunn below has the steps detailed perfectly. We followed them. We asked about the stamps. It’s all electronic these days, so no need for a passport stamp. They needed to see our Aduanas vehicle passport we were given when the van arrived and then they gave us a slip with exit stamps for Uruguay on them.

Easy crossing. All checks to Argentina from Uruguay are done before the river crossing. Be prepared to pay for bridge crossing after you have gone through formalities. No check for fruit or vegetables for us today. Argentinean authorities did not stamp our passport.

We escaped Uruguay with following steps within just 20mins on total:

1. take the most right lane, do the migration in the first bureau (no 1)
--> passport needed

2. Drive down to the parking spot on the right after the bureau lane.

3. get to the last bureau of the right lane and give back old TIP. There you get the new TIP as well.
--> passport, TIP, driving licence and vehicle papers needed.

4. Done, just drive ober the bridge into Argentina

Very fast, friendly and efficient staff.

Right now it‘s still not possible to cross from Uruguay into Argentina with a motorhome. You have to go to Salto. From Argentina into Uruguay seems to be possible.
