Something not right?

Description

Beautiful rocky spot alongside the Mulberry River just before you get to Oark. Coming from the south, you will cross the bridge over the river. Immediately to the right will be a discreet dirt road leading down into the woods. May be doable with 2wd but 4x4 recommended.

We parked under the bridge for some shade, and enjoyed the warm river water, teeming with crawdads. Our kids loved it. Seems to be a spot popular with the locals, as we saw a few come and go during the day, but no one else camped there that night. As a bonus, we were treated to an amazing lightning bug display at night.

beautiful rocky spot on the bank of the river. as previous description says, it's extremely easy to miss the turn off, its immediately past the bridge as you're headed into Oark. you can turn left or right to get to the riverbank, we turned right and would not have made it in or out if it wasn't for 4x4 and high clearance, my girlfriend went and explored the other side and said it would have been much easier in/out on that side but I can't say for myself. when pulling in, there was about an 8 inch drop from the paved road to the dirt and small mud pits you need 4x4 to get through to get down to the bank. my advice is to GET OUT and look before making the turn off of the highway to see if your vehicle can make it. getting in was fine but getting out took a couple of tries and wouldn't have happened if I was in a 2wd truck. other than that, beautiful spot, stopped and cooked dinner, would have stayed overnight but it was still early in the say so we knocked a couple of more hours of driving out but will definitely stay overnight if passing through again. also note; our GPS took us down a CR into the middle of nowhere and said our destination was in someones field, it wasn't a big deal but definitely double check where your GPS says to go because this is right next to the highway

Beautiful spot but around 10pm 2 people on four wheelers drove up the river and told us that it was private land and we weren’t supposed to camp here but the guy is the only one who spoke and sounded drunk and went on some weird rants about deer and people coming there shooting off guns on the weekends. There had been locals coming and going all day and several fire pits along the beach so I dont think this is private land. He told us since we were already there we could stay one night but needed to leave in the morning. If you are gonna try camping here i would suggest camping on the side up-river to avoid him.

Beautiful spot! My family and I actually rolled in a storm. So the bridge was great for extra protection. Loved the campsite. We will be back!

Spent the night downstream from the bridge. Lots of room. No company on a friday nights.

Nice spot! You can get down on either side of the the road, looks like the locals are mostly using the trail opposite the one the original poster mentioned, there are some big puddles and a bit of mud on either side so tread carefully. I found a fire pit on the Eastern end of the beach and set up there after the locals had all left - tucked myself into the trees a little because I'm not sure if you can actually camp there. Very hot, so the river was a treat.
