Description

Campground on lawn with a lot of space — but beware that you will be camping in the middle of a party area!! Facilities are clean. Cold shower. Restaurant serves below mediocre food. 5$/PPN. Good place to stay — if you’d like to stay in a club with VERY LOUD music ’till very late.
Camping toilette not very clean, showers in toilette. At restaurant good toilette. Internet Down/not functioning.

Latest Check-Ins

Absolutely horrible, head-blowing noise waste until midnight (and over)!!! Like you would be in a club that plays the music so LOUD that they try to make your ears bleed, and not a hotel. The reception did not tell us that they’ll have huge party at night when we checked in — he absolutely should have told us and then we certainly would NOT have stayed!!! But when we found out, it was already too late to drive to some other town and other place and we had no choice anymore. Absolute disgrace! The owner ”offered” us a 5000 Tsh ”discount” for the inconvenience that we did not get sleep at all: that is more like an insult. Should we known about the huge party and head-blowing noise when checking in we still would have had time to go elsewhere. Absolutely unforgivable behavior not to tell and warn customers that if you stay you won’t get any nights’ sleep from the ear-blowing ”music”! Restaurant serves food that was horrible and worth maybe the 5000Tsh/portion and not 14000. Do yourself (and all your friends) a favor AND GO ELSEWHERE! AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. Nice place if you’d like to stay at a club. ”Campsite” is not really a campsite, it’s a lawn area in the middle of the party area! A double room 55000/Tsh w/ aircon but the music blows your head away in the rooms, too.

Report Check-In

Camping in the back of the lawn, two party tents in the front. Some locals come here to have a drink and listen to (loud) music. Relatively noisy even on weekdays during the evening. Traffic noise, guests, mosque and guests in the party tent. Soft ground during the rainy season. Then BigRigs beware. At the entrance there is a hanging power line (approx. 3.80m). Reception very friendly and helpful. BigRigs Beware of the access road: low-hanging branches of trees, but you can avoid it.

Nice spot within the hotel grounds, with the potential to be noisy if at weekends. Ablutions block rudimentary. Food good value. Big rig friendly (we are 8.3m and just got in). We had a nice stay.
20,000tsh total per night.

Report Check-In

Still the same, we paid 26,000tsh per tent and with two people in a tent that’s around $5 per person.

The camping is good on a grassy lawn but as many other places in Tanzania it gets busy during weekends. We were here on a Friday and some locals kept the party going until 3 in the morning with loud music just a few meters from our tent.

Overall it’s okay for one night but wouldn’t stay much longer.

Probably the only possibility for camping in Tanga.
Nice, grassy campground, ablutions totally run down, but you can use the new toilet at the restaurant and the shower for the staff.
Plug point in the ablutions (long cable!).
No beach, but only a short ride with a tuktuk to the city where all offices (immigration, customs, (super-) markets are.
The restaurant is ok, but 800 meter in the direction towards the city you will find find a excellent pizzeria (l'amore), owned by a Swiss guy.

Yes there is camping on a flat gras place..shade under huge trees..abolutionblock in the last corner cold water very filthy uncleand.
The receptionist „mary“ friendlly but did not tell us at checkin ( we where the only ones camping ) that during the night 5 schoolbusses would turn up and camp next to our car..so very very loud during whole night..abolution super bussy.
Beach access through tanga yacht club ( very nice) possible ( but 6000 tsh daymembership :-/)

Well all this nobody told us at hotel ...
Breakfast 10.000tsh one beer,one wine 8000tsh
Camping (2adult 2kid) 37000tsh

Report Check-In

An OK place to stay, possibly the only formal place to camp in Tanga. There is only one shower, in the ladies, over the top of the squat toilet. Men have to share this one too.
Very noisy at night with music and clients at the bar/restaurant, neighbourhood dogs howling, the mosque and other town noises! The campsite is also brightly lit with artificial lighting.
Still US$5 pppn (worked out to be TSh11,000 each).
