Sounds like it's not posible anymore to stay here. Roberto rented out the place.

We had a very warm welcome with cold rum from Roberto. He's a super nice person, who likes to share stories. The restaurant is closed for the season, but he was there anyways, hosting a cyclist.
At the moment there's only a toilet, which you have to flush with a bucket from a barrel. WiFi works until well after dark. He plans to build a permanent hostel and campground, which would be awesome. The place is already changing to a beautiful green garden, with plants from all over the world.

Roberto is such a welcoming guy. he lives for what he's doing. we felt so welcome and had a great night there. thanks for the whisky!

Report Check-In

Roberto is a sensational person, he has a giant heart and received us with great affection and a very cold soda! We parked in front of the restaurant which was closed, but he came quickly to the first whatsapp contact. The energy is through solar panels, so the wi-fi works from 7am to 7pm as long as it's sunny. there are restrooms and drinking water available too, totally free, to help all types of travellers.

A nice overnight visit with Roberto, who offered us a local beer and a local cola and some genuine conversation (in very easy to understand Spanish:) According to Roberto, there is no wifi available and the water that he has available is in a barrel. We used that water for flushing the toilet by bucket. It was windy and dusty during our visit. The restaurant was closed due to the dust. Roberto uses solar power for his restaurant so there is no available plug in power either. These changes should be noted from earlier reviews. Roberto had a paper money collection so if you have any (small) bills from other countries to donate, that’s really what he treasures the most, beyond conversation with travelers. He also appreciates a short (1 minute) video for FB, a pic together, and an entry in his visitors’ book, all of which seem like a reasonable exchange for his hospitality. It’s a harsh environment on the outside but Roberto is working to green his property. It reminded us a little bit of Coco’s Corner in Baja, minus the women’s undergarments hanging from the ceiling lol. This was a much more G-rated experience

I contacted Roberto on whatsapp and he was very helpful and let us stay there the same night. He was not present unfortunately but sent a friend who took care of us, sold us drinks and showed us around. Idf you want food they can arrange in the restaurant. The place is next to a road so a bit noisy at night. No shower, toilets available, flushing with buckets of water.

Restaurante (and resting place).

Here is an easy place to stop along the PanAm Hwy. Roberfo is very friendly and will welcome you immediately. (He videotaped an interview with us.) You can recharge your devices but he operates on solar panels and so more electricity is not available. No wifi. Some noise from highway. You will need to pour a bucket in the toilet to flush. Seems safe and secure..

Report Check-In

Must stop for cyclists and travellers. Very good man. We took bucket showers (the water is warmer than gas station showers because he keeps it in the sun), charged our phones a bit and shared our tequila and spare foreign dollars with Roberto. The food looked good but we had to move on. Wish we had arrived in the evening to spend more time. This place is very tranquilo.

Amenities* to be updated - Restaurant open, pets allowed, electricity available, camping allowed, kitchen can be used. Needless to say Roberto is one of the most genuinely nice and happy people! He accepts travellers of all kinds and at any time. He does not accept money. He prefers meeting people and having a nice interesting chat. He also collects currencies as souvenirs, so do add to the collection however small and make sure you do some nice art work in his travellers log. We even went to Guadalupe to meet his wonderful family. Highly recommend this place!

At the moment the restaurant is closed, although he plans to open it again after renovations, but a bathroom is available.

+ Roberto is really nice and welcoming and loves to meet travelers (has a guest book and takes lots of videos) he wants to build an Overlander spot in the back

+ Roberto went grocery’s shopping with us on his moto because we didn’t have any food left for dinner and there is nothing close by

Roberto is one of the nicest people we've met. Truly hospitable, he just loves having travelers around. He will certainly talk your ear off. You can use the restaurant kitchen if you want, and roberto filled our water tank from a large reservoir in the parking lot. We were very surprised to find such a nice spot out here!

Roberto collects flags and coins, so if you have any from your country consider donating to his collection!

Report Check-In

We just arrived after a hot and dusty ride up from Trujillo and Robert couldn’t had given us a warmer welcome. His passion is meeting people from around the world and his place is a perfect stop over on an otherwise uninteresting road. There’s plenty of space to throw up your tent both inside and outside, a kitchen and baño too. Lots of other travellers are passing through so it makes a great meeting place.

Report Check-In

Stopped to cool down our engine and eat lunch. Right off the PanAm. No one was here but bathrooms were open, traveler stickers on the windows of the building, nice gardens. Good spot to rest in the middle of nowhere.
