Description

This is a developed campground at Walker Lake with sun ramadas, picnic tables and fire rings. No hook ups, but at the newer campground near the boat launch there are lots of mostly level, pull thru spaces with fabulous lake views. We paid $6/ night. Pit toilets, garbage dumpsters, no water. 4bar LTE cell service, too!

Just off the highway. Overlooking the lake. Each little campsite has a metal awning over the picnic table. It’s beautiful.

Report Check-In

great stop, alittle un kept but great views of the water. water level pretty low

Report Check-In

Beautiful location, super easy to find.
This is part of the Walker Lake Recreation Area & is $6 per night (less if you have the senior or disabled passes).
There’s a pit toilet & dumpster but no water.
The sites aren’t jammed up next to each other but they are close enough to hear/see your fellow campers.
There’s a little highway noise but I could easily tune it out.
I have 2 bars of 5GUC with TMobile.

Report Check-In

Dry camping at its best. Plenty of room for 40ft fifth wheel, paved, with picnic tables and vault toilets. BLM campsite, $6/night or free for America the Beautiful Pass holders.

Report Check-In

beautiful spot but badly needs maintenance and bathrooms locked.

Report Check-In

Large section of the campground was paved today. We went on down and stayed in a gravel area. Great views

Report Check-In

Nice spot. Most people camp at the first set of spaces, they were pretty full when I arrived. Better is to continue down towards the lake, there are 4 more spots near the boat ramp and another 6 or so further along. Pay station is near the boat ramp but unmaintained. Pay envelopes were all stuck together, impossible to use. Also toilets by the pay station were locked and the garbage dumpster was full. No pay station where most people camp so I doubt anyone actually pays! Pit toilets up at the top were functional. Also be prepared for wind, it's pretty bad until after sunset.

Report Check-In

It is NOT free. $6 a night $3 for senior pass holders. Pay or don’t stay.

Covered picnic tables, pit toilets and trash dumpsters. Easy walk to the lake. Great views.

Report Check-In

Absolutely beautiful with free, back in spots and your own personal covered picnic table. plenty of free spots in May

Report Check-In

Quiet BLM campground. $6/nite with vault toilets. Senior pass accepted. picnic tables with shade. Fills up on weekends.

Report Check-In

Right on the lake. Lots of back in sites with picnic tables. Garbage and pit toilets. We camped down by the boat launch in a big level lot. No one else around. 5G with Verizon. Sheriff drove through, so I guess it was okay for us to camp here.

Report Check-In

Fits all sizes…. Great spot lakeside with mountain views in all directions. Post card photo views, for sure. Area is clean and maintained. Very quiet, other than some wind howling. 6-7 other travelers here for the night. Look for the self-pay station. The sign was too faded to read, so I paid the $6 another comment mentioned was the price, and parked for the night. Heading north there are a number of other beaches that I think are free, but this one felt very safe with other people. No one is on top of each other. Everyone has their own private area. A few miles north is a gas station, convenience store, and weed dispensary. Mediocre Verizon signal here before using my Insty Connect.

Report Check-In

Pit toilet paved parking far enough from Road so not much noise. Great view some day users

Report Check-In

toy hauler friendly! beautiful views, not too windy. had our awning out for most of the day over the side porch. road noise from highway was not bad further down from it. we only stayed one night because of travel plans, but would've loved to stay longer. other campers were friendly but also kept to themselves.

Report Check-In

Nice place to dry camp for a night at the side of the road. Some road noise. We disconnected the Jeep toured the area and decided the upper lot closest to the road fit our needs and our 40 foot coach the best. Great views, pretty breezy and cool today. No solar today either, had to run generator for an hour.
We stayed in a motorhome...

Driving my camper and about to fall asleep so I turned into this place at 2AM. Nobody in sight anywhere. backed in to one of the picnic area sites and got ready to sleep. Quiet with a nice cool breeze blowing off the water. Didn't take long for mosquitoes to find me so I closed up and sweated all night. When I woke I was stunned by the beautiful vista. $6 / night. Great place!

Report Check-In

It rocks , great level spots down on lower tier , with a ramada for each site
The lake is beautiful , temps are great now , what more do you need ?

Report Check-In

Good campsite with a nice view of the lake. No trees but they have covered picnic tables and fire rings and there’s a nice breeze coming off the lake. Verizon phone and internet work great. Saw a place to fill water jugs but no hose bib or no dump station. Hard to beat for $6 a night, $18 a week or half price with a Golden State Senior Pass.

Report Check-In

Came back because I love this place. Toilets were closed but it's so beautiful here! Met some nice fellow travellers. Good att and tmobile service

Report Check-In

Lake water is not usable; nice flat sites for quick layover; drive all the way down to end of road for best sites

Report Check-In

Great spot. Lake seems a bit sketchy for swimming but campsites are great.

Report Check-In

Can't wait for sunrise! Got a tip from a friend to go to the bottom set of sites. Beautiful but cold!!!

Report Check-In

Quick stop for the night on our way south, nice clean and scenic spot.

Report Check-In

very trippy place. and by that I mean a great trip spot. signal, water, free camping, seclusion and natural wonder. may want to double dose at this one ;)

Report Check-In

As others have described. Pulled in after dark. Easy to navigate to spot on lower tier. Traffic noise not an issue in our van. Lots of open spots this time of year. Had 4 bars ATT 4G LTE. Great overnight pit stop.

Report Check-In

It's a beautiful spot. I parked on a patch of gravel closer to the water next to the RV/camp sites that have tables. There's a place to dump trash and restrooms I didn't use. It's very quiet but there were a fair amount of people: RVs, vans and tent camping. Everyone kept to themselves.

Report Check-In

Clean and quite with large sites all looking over the lake, road is gravel and dirt but well maintained. $6 a night for camp site with covered picnic tables and fire pit ring ($3 if you have the access pass or disable placard) or free primitive camping, working clean restrooms and large trash dumpster. Right off the 95 but zero road noise. Rigs of any size would be ok. Full LTE cell service using AT&T (not sure about other carriers). No hook ups no running water so bring your own. Swimming and kayaking are allowed. Very clean area in general will definitely stay again.

Report Check-In

Not much to add beyond what others have said. In April 2021 they were not charging for camping here which is quite amazing because it’s a very nice spot for all size rigs with many many spaces available. Good AT&T and Verizon cell service. This spot is recommended. Also, we did a hike up the canyon directly across from the campground and it was a nice 4 mile hike up the drainage.

Report Check-In

MUCH less wind than the other two campgrounds at this lake.

Report Check-In

Easy to find. Pulled in late and stayed up top. Very nice. If you follow boat ramp down you will find lower campsite. Pay station is down here. Toilets at lower campsite were not open when we were here. Water covered in algae so we did not swim or allow our dogs to.

Report Check-In

No potable water. Vault toilets $6 night

Report Check-In

Don't make the mistake we made. we camped at the top of the hill, before we realized there was a much better place down close to the water. Too lazy to move. Since we didn't use the proper facilities, we won't comment on them. No pay station at the top of the hill so we camped for free.

Report Check-In

BLM campground, totally empty when we stayed. Pit toilets were ok but huge black widow spiders so be careful.

Report Check-In

The initial review of this campground is very accurate. All spots have amazing lake and surrounding views. The upper level sites are closer to the road and you hear the traffic. At the lower ones closer to the water the traffic noise is barely noticeable.

Report Check-In

As described by others, with the exception of cell service. There was no AT&T service in the area. In Hawthorne we used the WiFi at the McDonalds.
