Latest Check-Ins

Camping ground not suited for big rigs, ablutions not well maintained. Baboons are a real problem, being aggressive and stealing anything not locked away. The baboons also cause malicious damage to the vehicles and are out of control.

Report Check-In

The price is 190pppn.
The guide tell us is 380pppn for the campsite but he miss understood, the lady correct him.
Nice place under mountain but feet in the sands (a bit dirty for that).

The price has increased and is now N$ 380pppn. We didn't stay at the campground but rather looked for a wildcamping spot outside the park.

Road to campsite is in a horrific state, ablution haven't been cleaned for some time. No maintenance to ablutions in Campsite, ladies... only one shower working shower Roses not there, door's don't probably close to shower cubicle.Men no lights in there ablution.Kitchen/laundry in very bad state.

Report Check-In

Lots of shaded camp sites close to the ablutions, four campsites situated a bit further away, one of which is on its own. Beware of the baboons, they will jump into an open car even if you are sat next to it. Drinkable water, friendly staff. Great walk up to the river pool 2km one way along a reasonable and well marked path

Nice campsite with a lot of threes in between the mountains, very green in comparison with the rest of Namibia! Clean ablutions and hot shower. They ask 375$N p.p.p.n. for camping but we knew that NWR runs a special until the end of this year for 400$N per site, we told them and got the site for 400$N. They have a baboons problem at the moment because of the draught they come to the campsite and try to steal your food. We were very careful and still one baboon jumped into the car and stole a bag of rice. He is not afraid of woman and we think this problem will become worse and worse...
The olive trail is beautiful! We started around 6 AM and it took us about 3,5 hours. There is quite some shade in the canyon.

Camping is now 300 nad pp, low season price - excluding park fees. Cabin was 1200 per cabin including cold breakfast.

The price is now N$250 pp. Yes it is nice, but too expensive for what you get and what we really need (we don‘t need anything). Just three of the places are big rig friendly (20-22). One is totally in the shadow and was full of rubbish. We just stayed in front of the main gate of the NP. 2 cars during the night, easy and quiet.

The Olive trail, which we did the next morning, was beautiful. Great hike, but see above, you need a bit courage and a good condition for the hike with the chain. But overall a must do. We saw Mountain Hartmann Zebras, Baboons, Kudus. Gorgeous.

The camp sites are managed by NWR are nice but most are not big rig friendly. Cost is now N$ 190 pppn plus 90 park entrance fee. You can pay the permit on site, this does not have to be prebooked in WDH or Swakop. Ablutions and showers are clean and rather new. The 4x4 Olive trail is closed and will not reopen. The Olive hike is nice well marked but a bit of climbing over rocks and the chains are not for the faint hearted. There is a restaurant and bar which we did not try out.

Beautiful location by a stream with many trees. Ablutions are very modern and well maintained. Restaurant and Wifi at reception (didn't use). No shop but they do sell firewood. Cost N$340 per night for two. Plus park fees per day of N$90 for 2 adults and a vehicle.
The two hikes take you through gorgeous canyons. Note that the Olive Trail requires you use a chain to inch your way along a vertical canyon wall over a pool. Not for kids. The Waterkloof trail is not well marked in the first half, so leave extra time for trail finding. The 4x4 two day trail is permanently closed, according to the MET guy working there.
