Report Check-In

nice view from the bar, very shady campsite (no.2) 175 pppn

We didn’t camp here… unfortunately it was full. The friendly staff referred us to a campsite nearby. As keen birders we wanted to see the pel’s fishing owl and they agreed to take us out for a night search on the Zambezi. We couldn’t find the owl, but it was lovely to take close up pictures of the african finfoot.

We enjoyed to stay here (camping). Beautiful and clean place, as well as friendly staff and owner. Also liked the bar very much, which is next to the impressive Zambezi river.

Report Check-In

As described below. Nice place, although the very shady pitch is also very sandy/dusty and feels a bit airless when the humidity is high. Friendly staff and great Wi-Fi. We saw a Turaco in the tree by the parking.

Stayed here for two nights camping!
Lodge owned by Germans with 2 lovely campsites and some tents/chalets. One of the campsite is in the shades one with less trees. Braai area, water and power available. Cute dogs all over the place but well behaved. Honesty bar as mentioned before. Beautiful view over the Zambezi. Birdlife is spectacular.
Ablutions were clean and with hot water. Working Wifi even at the campsite (slower of course as next to the main building but good enough for WhatsApp).

If you’re a twitcher - this is your place. Curt is extremely knowledgable and passionate about ornithology. He can take you to see pennant-winged nightjars, skimmers, white-backed night heron, breeding carmine bee-eaters by the hundred, as well as his resident wood owl (amongst others - the yellow-throated love leaf if you’re so lucky!).

There are two campsites now, one with a bit more shade than the other but both pleasant. They both have wash basins at the sites and electrical points. There is a shared ablution as mentioned which has separate bathrooms for men and women. There are more wash basins alongside these with hot/cold water to wash dishes. We had cold water when we were there -didn’t ask whether there was hot but it didn’t seem to be working.

There is an honesty bar which looks out over the river and an open air boma which had a blazing-festive fire going for a braai/barbecue.

Camping cost N$170pppn.

You could also enquire about the houseboats here - they look good.

Nice place to camp. Curt is very friendly and helpful. The deck has a wonderful Zambesi view. Warm showers available. Also firewood is included. 150 N$ per person.

We stayed at this place after crossing the border into Namibia, this campsite is certificated to quarantine for 5 days if necessary. We had a nice shady campsite with power and a small sink to do dishes or brush your teeth. Outdoor shower and toilet and another place with hot water to do the dishes or laundry. There is a nice shady deck with view nicer the river, where you can drink your own beers. There is a restaurant but we didn't eat there. The riverwater is filters through sand and we boiled it to drink it.

great location, Owners welcoming, access to Zambezi River, not far from Katima for supplies. campsite safe and sheltered

Report Check-In

Nice location, handy for border crossing and out of town. Camps are 2 sandy sites with own water basin (dirty), power point and light. I was permitted to park on grass. There is a fire/braai area too. Showers very rustic but hot. Price N$145pp.

Brilliant stay at this lodge! Campsites are very private and spacious and there is a cool shared outdoor ablution block. The whole lodge is very clean and has a great vibe. I didn't have dinner but breakfast was delicious, and only 100NAD with buffet cereal, yogurt, fruit, juice and coffee and then hot breakfast included as well!
They offer sunset cruises and fishing trips but I didn't go on any, however the owner and staff are very friendly and interesting to talk to so I am sure the activities would be brilliant!

(p.s they don't charge long distance cyclists for the camping 👍🏕️)

Checked out the place but decided not to stay. Overgrown and a bit rustic for us. Much nicer place to camp/lodge a couple of km down at Namwi

Report Check-In

As they only have 2 camp spots, it’s difficult to get one.

Tried 3 times in November 2018 ... always booked. So maybe better put a reservation ....

When we arrived the receptionist told us they have no camping at all anymore.
