Description

*Overnight camping/parking is NOT available at this location.
...
Campspot is ok. Right below the official campsite directly at the beach. Some locals went by, but no problems with overnight camping. Might be different when the official campsite is open. Steep gravel road.
The official campsite was open and booked solid, the attendant suggested we use this public beach. lane down is a little tough, some 2wd folks were struggling to get up.

We parked at the parking lot. There were no signs, that it isn't allowed to go on the beach. But you need a real 4x4. But maybe in Summee there will be no camping signs again.

locals have put up signs no vehicle camping on the beach. Talk to the man who owns the land above Meat Cove who said they had a recent issue with a group camping on the beach. They are now working with the province to inforce the no driving on beaches law there.

Très belle plage de galet, achalandé par les visiteurs et les locaux le jour. Une citoyenne de l’endroit nous a averti de ne pas camper sur la plage mais que c’était permis dans le stationnement.

Very nice rocky beach, a lot of local and non-local people during the day. A local told us not to camp on the beach. It’s permitted in the parking lot though ! Enjoy

super, tout seul sur le spot :) à l'abri du vent dans le renfoncement. descente en cailloux.

we managed down and up the hill in our Toyota corolla no problem. beautiful little spot for an overnighter. a very small area for tents

Another great spot! Pulled into parking lot and drove up on beach rocks in Jeep Wrangler with roofnest. Stayed overnight, should have stayed 2 days but traveling entire coast of NS. We had one travel camper pull up on the rocks 50 feet or so away, the couple was awesome! Spent hours with them, laughing and telling stories. They made us home made lobster rolls, the best in NS. There is a small parking lot - camping vans, travel campers and the like can pull into and park overnight. The meat cove campground is typically full, there are amenities such as wood, showers, a food truck, and kayak rentals. The campground is on a cliff, very hilly with a lot of uneven and even spots. The owner of Meat Cove is super nice, helpful and full of info.

Loved this spot! Arrived around 7:30pm and a few other campers already there: vans and car-tent campers. Everyone was quiet and well-behaved. This spot shields you from the wind with a beautiful view towards the water.
The sound of the creek running into the ocean put me right to sleep.
No bugs and it dropped to mid-50’s at night in late August. So welcome after all these heat waves.
It had recently rained and was muddy. I had to engage 4x4 to get up the hill when leaving (I’m in a 9k lb 144” Sprinter).

Bel endroit. Camping complet, on nous a aussi référé la plage. On est 7-8 ce soir.
Eau calme, petite rivière coule vers la mer. Superbe!

Quiet spot for the night . We were three small rigs. We tried to park on the beach but got stucked in sand on what seemed at first a stone cover… :( Thanks to Tim and Heather who were kind enough to pull us out with their 4x4 camper. :) Unless you drive a 4x4, park before the beach by the stream. Pretty safe and quiet! Early morning we saw whales in the bay. :)

We tried to get a spot at the campsite but it was full by 1 pm. Ended up camping on the beach which was way better. We set up at around 4 when the beach cleared out. By 8 pm their were 4 more campers. Lots of space. Highly recommend.

Beautiful beach surrounded by hills - a popular spot for overlanders - there were three other couples overlanding on the beach the night we were there - no bugs! - campground right beside the beach for those looking for more amenities - abundance of sea life - most northern point of NS

Report Check-In

directly on the beach past parking lot, very nice, all rock out of water, in water is sandy.

very nice spot again! steep gravel road to the beach. think you have to go up in the morning...clean, no noise
except the sea. camping above was still closed. no whales seeing. we will wait for the sunrise tomorrow morning..

Report Check-In

The road is slightly difficult but slowly is totally doable. Not so quiet during the day, it is a public spot, but it was nice to connect with some locals. Everyone I met was kind, and welcoming. Quiet at night and beautiful sunrise.

I thought this was an amazing spot! Fresh water creek flowing into the ocean, high cliffs surrounding the site, large flat parking lot to park in and a big rocky beach for exploring. I was the only person that stayed the night. You are in view from the campground above but not if you park on the side with the creek. The road going down was slightly sketchy... not too long but steep and has a few crevices. I made it down and up in a minivan and a small car came down and went up while I was there.. probably only an issue if you have a very low car or if it’s raining.

Stayed at this spot for the night. We wanted to get to Meat Cove and were hoping to find a reasonable free spot in this fairly remote corner of Cape Breton, and we committed to this one.
A few people came walking on the beach during the evening.
It is quiet during the night. Nobody bothered, even though there is an official campground just up the hill on the other side of the small river/creek.
Nice place just near the ocean, at the northern-most part of Nova Scotia on top of that!
WARNING: To get to the beach, there is a fairly steep dirt/rock path. Going down to the beach is generally not a problem for small vehicles, including my camper van, but going back up the next morning made me worried a little bit. If the path had been wet (from rain during the night), I believe the wheels of my FWD van would have slipped a lot and I would not have been able to go back up the hill.
I allow myself to remove the "Big Rig Friendly" indication since I definitively do not see any travel trailer of larger RV going down there.

Nice enough. on the beach Bernie the established campground. there is some debris but not the usual garbage.
