Description

Huge area in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest just seconds outside of the Mount Rainier National Park boundaries. Right in the forest next to a river. Many opportunities for camping for rigs of any size. Road is a little rough coming down but should still be doable even if you're in a larger vehicle. Plenty of fire rings and no mosquitoes! It's paradise out here and can't get much closer to the park. Please keep it clean!

Beautiful place. road down a bit rough, but we managed with our 23ft camper. nog 4x4. no starlink. but nice to stay for 1 or more days. we took the left road at the crossing down.

Report Check-In

Amazing place to camp, lots of spots. Not marked coming off the road, but take the dirt access road right before the park. River is nice for a swim.

Report Check-In

One of my favorite spots I’ve stayed in. We stayed on a Saturday, so there were a lot of others camping which made for very little privacy but everyone seemed friendly and kept to themselves. The forest is sooo beautiful and the river is crystal clear. Seems like there isn’t river access besides going down the steep dirt bank, but there are a handful of spots you can do so safely and it’s worth it. No cell service. Please leave no trace :)

Report Check-In

Very peaceful place, lots of spaces, you can walk down by the river, crystal clear water.
Road is a bit bumpy but doable, just wouldn’t done it if it was raining a lot.

Report Check-In

Multiple spots to choose from, right near the river 🏞️ Turnoff onto dirt road right before NP sign on the left. Keep going down the dirt roads until you find a spot. Road gets more rutted the farther you go down, 4wd recommended but not necessary. Was almost full here on a Friday morning in late July. Happy trails!

Report Check-In

Huge area. Road gets a bit overgrown farther down.

Report Check-In

This is a beautiful camp spot next to creek. I definitely will come back for a visit!

Report Check-In

As advertised. A pull out on the highway can fit 1 or 2 cars / vans. Quiet and right near the park.

Report Check-In

Very neat spot. Open, woodsy, and with a creek down below. Road is a little rough getting in, but nothing crazy

Report Check-In

Great place to camp right outside of the Rainier entrance arch. First road outside of park. Lots of space for different vehicle types, maybe walk the road to scope it out depending on time of year. In a 170 sprinter, most spots were accessible but not all due to size. Beautiful river, a must sleep spot! Will be back again.

about a 1/2 mile from Mt. Renier gate off of RT WA123

SO lovely! Lots of great spots among huge, beautiful trees. A short walk to an incredibly blue and gorgeous river. The road seemed bumpy but was totally navigable, short, and not too steep - you’ll be fine. In November, pretty wet and cold but absolutely perfect spot to spend my birthday :)

Report Check-In

What an awesome spot! Rough road to get in, but I took the first spot at the bottom, follow the trail to the river and you come to the most beautiful swimming hole! It was a little bigger than a back yard pool with several waterfalls! Amazing!

Report Check-In

Really cool area. Lots of spots. Road down to the river isn’t the best but easily done with my AWD Transit. Most spots were taken on a Friday night, but overall super quiet.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot. there are like 10+ places for rv. The road down is small but with my 20ft/6m RV no problem. My girlfriend scouted the road for any oncoming cars, because that ythe yy TT yyyy have been a problem.

If you love to forest bathe, this is the place! Also a swift running river down the embankment...also nice for mountain biking (not really aggressive but just nice to be out on a bike).
There is a large section if spots in this location, im at the last spot, there were 2 huge catholes already dug (20 ft into the woods), something large came to visit me at 3am, moose?? but just carried on his way.
There are plenty of other secluded spots in this general area if you want to be totally alone.
Beautiful and peaceful.

Report Check-In

Excellent NFCG. there are definitely bugs though, so prep for that! Beautiful spot.

Report Check-In

The GPS mark is slightly before the entrance. Definitely a bit rough going down. I stayed all the way to the end on the right fork, and it was huge. It also had a great level spot for my sprinter. Don't expect easy access to the water from this part of the area anyway, it was steep trails and rocks to get to the water.

Report Check-In

Great area!! Right outside of the NP. Would stay again! Many dispersed spots of all sizes, however the road is rough and tight. AWD recommended. Best for tent camping or single vehicles. We were the only people with a trailer over a 4 day stay. Our 15 foot trailer handled the narrow road fine but anything much bigger might have issues. No cell service and may or may not have easy access to the river. Potable water available at the nearby Ohanapecosh campground. Keep this place clean and special!

Report Check-In

Perfect. Gravel road OK for a old campervan 21 feet long and 9 feet high. The entrance of the gravel road is between the sign of the entrance of the national park and the NF44 road.

Report Check-In

Nice camping on the Forest Service road to the west side of 123. The gravel road Down to the site was narrow and I was worried about turning our 30 foot RV around, but it opens up a lot once you get down to the flat area. There are a few sites for big rigs or trailers. The river is nearby for water. It was fairly crowded for us on the July 4 weekend. There were lots of little scraps of litter, like food wrappers and bottle caps, so we tried to pick a bunch of it up at our site.

SO LUSH AND SO BEAUTIFUL. little bit of a rough road but we have 4wd. keep in mind with the lushness, comes a lot of bugs that buzz and sting. but so beautiful. did not stay here because no cell service but saw quite a few others.

Report Check-In

Take the nearest road. The road is solid but some pot holes and very thin. My Ford Econoline fit perfectly and didn’t have any trouble getting down. Many “designated” spots. Please keep it clean. Many little paths to the river. Absolutely gorgeous. No cell service but I spent 2 days there because it was so calm and beautiful. No cell service.

Report Check-In

Beautiful by the river just outside the SE gate

Report Check-In

Great spot but as mentioned the road is a little rough coming down. Will definitely come back here again.

Report Check-In

Great spot! Beautiful river :) very peaceful

Came in @ 11:30 pm. Nice spot to crash for the night.

Report Check-In

Beautiful hiden place near NP close to river with a fire pit

Report Check-In

We were happy to find a place where we’re actually allowed to camp and use the space.
We stayed one night. It was full for Memorial weekend. It’s probably magical at other times.
One lane gravel road to get there. It must not be fun to meet another vehicle while coming down or up.

Report Check-In

Great spot, and many different sites.
We got in with a truck camper and a sm. utility trailer, wouldn't go much bigger.
Shame to see people leaving their garbage behind, otherwise as said a great spot.

Report Check-In

Stayed here again. As beautiful as ever despite the constant rain. Squishy ground though so be careful you don’t get stuck in the mud...

Report Check-In

Fantastic place, we stayed 3 nights. Big sites, access is not difficult. Really quiet with nice access to the river. Highly recommended

Report Check-In

Great spot. Can hear the road nearby, but feels very remote. Steep entrance road isn't so bad as it first appears; no troubles getting down gravel road in a 2wd sprinter.

Report Check-In

Several dispersed campsites along the Ohanapecosh River in Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Low branches and thick forest makes the approach a bit tricky. Not for big rigs, but we made it with 19 ft length, 12 ft heigt and 7 ft width. The road is close but the sites are down in a valley, so it is quiet. There was one more camper at the site but far away, Ohanapecosh Campground is close by but was full.

Report Check-In

Beautiful site, literally minutes from the Stevens Canyon entrance to Rainier. A little rough to get into with out Mercedes Sprinter van, but well worth it! Fell asleep to the sound of running water and slept in the next day because our car was in complete shade!

Report Check-In

Stayed 5 nights, 4 of those nights I had whole place to myself. Absolutely gorgeous place. Looks less than ideal upon arrival, but walk down to beautiful river from any of the multiple sites and you will see how beautiful it is. I hope people respect this place more (pack out your trash and shotgun shells, stop leaving toilet paper everywhere! Gross)

It was magical...
