White Salmon Road, Mt. Baker NF | Wild Camping

Nice spacious pull off from the single lane gravel road. The gravel road has some pot holes but is in good shape over all, the worst is just after pulling off the main road. We didn't see anyone else on this road the entire time we were there. There was a raised area you could drive up but we opted to just use a smaller pull off below that area. The service was fine, I was able to do a video meeting but the service is way better just around the bend. The pit toilets at the trailheads are unfortunately pretty nasty this time of year, it sounds like they aren't serviced much in fall/winter and people don't take good care of them. We suspect some people were just parking at artist's point for the night but can't say definitively.

My coordinates are at the bottom of the gravel road. Great dispersed camping spot with a few people along the road. We didn’t drive all the way down it bc it goes in the a while and the road is a little narrow but we made it in a 2WD transit van.

stayed here 1 night, the friday of a labor day weekend, so lots of cars passing by to check for spots but traffic died down later in the evening. we got up onto the platform in our low clearance class b airstream, but because it’s on a platform there is really only room for 1 vehicle. you can position your vehicle so the opening faces the forest for more privacy. some views, you can see the tippy tops of some peaks through the trees.

There was impassable snow on the road leading to this spot on 5/28/2021. However there’s a spot before that is flat. It’s very close to the cliff edge but wasn’t a problem to park for a few nights -Loui

Nice camping spot along White Salmon Road close to Picture Lake and Heather Meadows in Mt. Baker National Forest. Absolutely quiet and remote place in the North Cascades. AT&T cell phone service available.
