Latest Check-Ins

We tried to stay here, but the bartender told us there is no camping or van parking.

Have slightly mixed feelings by about a this place and weren’t sure what to expect from mixed reviews either.

The owner Carlos was very friendly and welcoming. The spot to park was nice enough, just a small flat area in the garden. Now only space for maybe two small vans in total as they have built more buildings. We arrived late and weren’t in a position to negotiate the price really. We felt it was a little expensive at 50q each. WiFi wasn’t really working and showers are salt water. No hook up. We know if you have a room you get breakfast, coffee and use of the kitchen which we didn’t have. Can’t comment on the food, but the bar area is nice to sit and watch the waves from. Chilled vibe, pool was nice to cool off. Laundry service available. The reason we stayed was that it was good for our cats. If we hadn’t had them, we would have gone to hotel el Pacifico as it half the price for slightly better facilities, but has an aggressive dog.

We had a fantastic stay here!! Parked our motorcycle & pitched our tents in their garden for 50Q per person per night inc. drinking water, coffee & use of showers/bathrooms & little pool. It is nothing fancy, has a real local and homely vibe, and is a bargain compared to neighboring surf hostels. Kitchen not communal but could use our stove on the beach. Ended up ordering off their menu every day! Food is great, cheap and cheerful! Surf hire / paddle boarding tours just 2 doors down through their friend Edgar. ‘Good vibes’ cafe around the corner does the best coffee & smoothie bowls. Only planned on staying for 1 night, stayed 3!! Thanks Alejandro!!

Apparently it is not possible to stay here anymore. At the beginning a worker said it was 45q pppn + the same for our dogs (!!). so we left, but after not finding an alternative we went back wanting to camp there. at the gate the owner said we couldnt. he was quite rude to be honest. other backpackers we met also said they had a bad experience with the owner, didnt feel welcome and left after one night.

we then met the son of the owner at driftwood during our stay: he said that they had too many bad experiences with campers so they don’t want them anymore. shame, it seems to have been a nice place!

We and our friends had a different experience. Carlos was a really nice and great host ..but a lot of charges appeared during the stay! Like we were offered to use the kitchen without mentioning that it was not included in the price, offered to come for a Christmas eve without saying it was not a free invitation, ..., ..., ... So we stayed a week and left with a bitter taste in the mouth!

Report Check-In

Stayed here for 2 nights.
Short update: Use of kitchen is not permitted - it's apperently not a commen area (they want to sell their food, most Hostels in El Paredon work that way...).

What can we say, our favourite spot of the trip possibly? This is such a must for all Overlanders. Majo and Carlos are absolutely magnificent and are so much of the reason this place is so amazing. Beachfront camping with 2 beach huts and such a chilled vibe. Almost daily we had people come from next door to say they were sick of driftwood and they all preferred it here! They have just built two new toilets which are lovely. Pool, fresh water (they have a garafon tap they keep topped up) and non potable salty water outside. 35Q pp. Rents boards at 100Q for the day. Breakfast for 25Q is amazing (we had 14!) and dinner too ranges from 25Q if loads of people having the same thing to 40-50Q for a standard meal or 70Q for a large sharing pizza. Food was always outstanding. Came for a few days stayed a fortnight - thanks so much Carlos and Majo (and Tassie!). Surf was good half the time.

Report Check-In

Nice place. 50Q per night, a great deal for our RV (we are 4). And for this price you can use the pool.

Report Check-In

Great spot for overlanders and backpackers alike!
Carlos and his wife Majo own a small hostel and are in the process of expanding. They allow overlanders to camp in their big garden, and will continue to do so in the future, they said. We paid 25Q per night, and for that price could also use the pool, sanitaries, communal kitchen and the little huts with hammocks on the beach. Carlos and Majo offer surfboards for rent (100Q), delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners (25-45Q) and will do absolutely everything to make you feel happy and welcome.
The rooms (private but with shared bathroom) seemed to have been 150Q per night, 100 if you stay a week. A big van or medium RV will work, but really big RV's will probably have some trouble making the turn at the entrance.
