Something not right?

Description

There is a small break between the boundaries of Dinosaur National Monument that seems to be used and legal for dispersed camping. Fire rings. No amenities. There are two places for cars that can be seen from the road (which is not busy) but there may be more spaces further back. Don't abuse it, keep it clean, because it's so close to the monument boundaries that there's no doubt they'll make it illegal to camp here if we're not careful!

Latest Check-Ins

There’s a really nice campsite if you keep going down this road, but be warned that I barely made it with my Ford Transit rear wheel drive. 4x4 recommended if you want to go down the road. But the view from the site up top was incredible and worth the gamble in my eyes. Lots of prickly plants, so wear good shoes and watch your dogs.

Report Check-In

Peaceful on an October Monday night, still sunny and warm during the day and not too cold at night. One other camper, no traffic at night. Great views of the stars, walk up the 4x4 road into the hills a bit for sunset and stronger cell reception.

Decent place if you just need a place to park for the night. 3 other campers when I arrived around 7pm on a Saturday night. By the AM about 10 campers, and still could fit a few more people. Very easy to find as well.

Keep this place CLEAN please.
this is a great spot. Don't trash it. Ranger drove by twice a day.

Great spot for tents or RVs. Very sandy but has a great view and a rock fire pit. Like mentioned before the campsites are on the right and if you see a cattle grate and then “you are entering Dinosaur National Park” sign you went too far. (I do recommend driving the to end of the road to the bathrooms and Josies cabin) No need for 4x4. Pack in and pack out pls!

good spot for a night while exploring the monument. two spots and an off-road.

Stayed two nights no problem. Go to the park day area to fill up with water. Perfect spot.

This campsite is just outside of the Dinosaur National Park border. You need to drive through the park from the Vernal, Utah side to access this spot, but it's great if you are planning to visit the park. Take the park road all the way to the end of the park. You'll cross a cattle gate and also see a sign that says you are leaving Dinosaur National Park. If you go too far, you will also see a sign that you are entering Dinosaur National Park and you'll eventually end up at the cabin that is part of the park. You want to watch for a pullout that is along the side of the road between the leaving and entering signs. You can't miss it since it is right next to the road on the right hand side. The site looked big enough to fit at least two RVs, maybe three. When we camped there, the campground host at the first come, first served park campground said we could use the restrooms at the campground. The BLM site was only a mile or two from the park campground so if you are unsure where to go, stop and ask the camp host to give you better directions. We stayed in a 35feet class A RV with a trailer.
