Description

A nice small national park just outside Guatemala City. Spending the night can be arranged in the office-building next to the parking-spot. Calling ahead is useful (5651-4645 or 5651-4825)
As usual: Crowded on weekends, quite empty during the week, nobody staying the night except us. Very safe, 24h Guard. 30 Quetzales pp for the night. We always left during the day for rock-climbing (awesome climbing spot at Lago Amatitlan 10 min drive away), otherwise its 12 Quetzales pp extra to spend the day. Lots of picnic-tables, bbq-spots, toilets, and even a cold shower you can use after 5pm (ask the guard where it is).

Great place under the trees with small trails to viewpoints. Safe as there are guards and cameras.
45Q per person for the night + 20Q for parking.

Report Check-In

Price now Q40 per person per night although they were determined to charge an extra Q15 even though I was adamant that I would leave before 7am.

Guard showed me toilet and shower blocks and would have taken me to the Mirador but I found my own way.

It's ok for a night and a short visit, nothing more. The parking lot is not necessarily suitable for large cars because of the trees. The prospects are not stunning either. It costs 30qpp, 20q for the car and 15q entry from 7am to 4pm. You can hear the highway. the Park close at 4pm.

This is a very cute little park! The park itself had a lot of amenities with trails, overlooks of the lake with Pacaya and Auga volcanos, soccer and basketball courts, lots of tables and bathrooms and bikes for rent. We camped for 1 night in the parking lot. They charge to stay overnight from 4pm to 7am which was $30QPP and if you want to stay the day after 7am then you have to pay for the park. We showed up to the park at 4pm and we paided $100Q for 2 people for the night and the whole next day at the park until 4pm. The bathrooms were very clean and nice but we didn’t find any showers. The park was very safe with 24hr guards on site and at 6pm they close and lock the gates. Very nice park for a night with amazing views and hikes. Would definitely recommend!

Cycle touring. Great spot to camp. Make sure you arrive before 4. I arrived at 5 and they weren’t going to let me camp but after 15 min of waiting they finally let me in. Still 30Q

Great spot! We came on bicycles and they charged us Q30 pp (they forgot to charge us for park entry). The mini Antigua and Tikal are pretty adorable. We came on a weeknight, very quiet. Cold showers but clean.

Un lugar super tranquilo, para disfrutar, el día o quedarse a acampar.Cuenta con seguridad, parrillas, lugares para comprar comidas y pasear. el precio es muy accesible. es amplio para recorrer senderos, a pie o en bicicleta. Aceptan mascotas.

we won't recommend this place for camping.
the facilities are okay (cold shower, clean toilet) but nothing more. there is no water hook or electricity. they charged us 42q pp, starting 2 yrs. so we ended up paying 173q for night.
the park itself is nice for kids- there are turtles and like Tikal small buildings. nice, for kids.

30 quetzal a night to stay here (5q extra for car parking) (4pm-7am, between 7am and 4pm you have to pay an extra 12Q for park entrance for the day. also you can leave the park and come back at any time during the evening with your camping permit). lots of palapas with picnic tables and bbq pits, some of which have power outlets. firewood provided too! you can rent bicis for 5q/hora during the day if you want. lovely park to have to yourself after visitors leave at 5pm ;)

Cool spot, but hell of disorganized employees. They didn't know you could camp there. It's a pretty busy place on weekends, arrived when everybody was leaving, rain pushed everybdy out. Shit show as the road only fits one car when people are parked on tbe side. Employees kept sending me to different places.
Well, in the end, it's where it says it is, by the office parking spot. But you only know the correct spot once you're there. Drive straight in, and loop tbe entire park counter clockwise. At the end, is a soccer field and basketball field on your right. You've been too far. It's the parking spot on your left before that last left turn that brought you down to the sport fields. See pictures. If they tell you to go somewhere else, ask them to ask their superior, bc I guarantee you you'll be back there...
I spent one night, it's calm, few dogs in the fenced area barking if they hear you coming out at night.
35 Q for one person for the night is all I paid. Arrived at 2:30pm. They close at 5pm. I didn't get to use the showers, soI cannot review that.

We (2 people) arrived with our motorhome on a Saturday, 16.00h, and payed Q65. After a quiet night, we strolled through the park and listened to a Sunday morning performance of a 7 man marimba band and tasted some local food from the stalls. We would go there again.

Nice enough place to spend a night and to stroll around for an hour or so to see the different attractions like a turtle pond, some sadly kept snakes and the replicas of some pyramids and steles. The park is open from 7 to 5, and if you come in before 4 p.m. and leave after 8 a.m. they charge the full entrance fee of Q12 and the parking fee of Q5 for the respective day, so for two people in a camper overnight camping is Q118 all in all.

Very nice place to spent the night. we were alone in the camping because it was during the week. They charge 30Q/pp per night, 5Q for the parking during the day, 12Q/pp if your want to spent the day in the park. There is a cold shower, water, toilets and everyone is super friendly. We spent 3 nights here for climbing close to the lake Amatitlan. super nice spot
