Something not right?

Description

This is one of 12 free spots scattered from the ski resort to the hot springs. we didn't drive past the springs, there could be more. some are shaded, most are tucked away from the road with good privacy. a creek is in the area and this specific spot was unmarked but the best in our opinion because it was away from the road a bit with access to the creek right on the spot. very quiet. took us 20 minutes to walk to the hot springs. these are small and not well mixed or delineated, so lots of hot and cold spots.

Nice sites, spread out for the most part, only a couple next to each other. Sites between the ski area and hot springs are a 3 day stay limit. once you go past the hot spring it changes to 16 days.

As described, a great location. Large enough area for multiple vans if you're traveling with folks. The road into this spot gets covered with water during rain so take it easy. The middle of the loop has gravel and seems pretty solid, the area around it can get mushy. We are here during rain and high waters. At this time you cannot enjoy the spring up the road the river is way too high.
The USFS ranger came by to make sure we knew the rules. He was nice and very informative about what is going on in the area. So reach out to the local FS if you have questions about availability in this area. Some roads are still closed to vehicle traffic and camping. The Big Wood River is very high.

Great, large, level site with a lovely fire pit. We checked out a number of other spots past the springs, and agree, this one is the best! Unfortunately, some recent campers threw cat food all over the site. Im not sure how high the bear risk is here, but Id be a bit uncomfortable tenting it here for a while.

Stunning campspots along the road next to a small river. We drove up to number 28. Not sure how many more there are but each one was stunning.

Large open space, flat, next to Warm Springs creek. This spot does have a fire pit. There is no T-mobile cell service until you are closer to town. Location is about a mile and half to hot springs. We went after dark and it was perfect...a starry night with hot water to soak in.

We checked out sites 11 and 12. Both still covered in quite a bit of snow and we needed 4wd to eventually get into 12. Looks like the snow will clear in a week or two. Nice quiet place to stay for the night.

Nice spot near a creek. There is a fire ring but no other amenities. The spot is a little close to the road but it doesn’t seem to be super busy (or wasn’t this time of year). We thought this was the best spot in this area. This is also close to Frenchman’s Bend Hot springs which you should check out, it’s 2 minutes up the road.
