Description

Several dispersed USFS land campsites all along this road. Water views and a small aspen grove. Some sites along the lake some back into the trees.

Pit toilets at 44.92684, -116.04270.

2-3 one vehicle spaces near the water. One medium sized site with fire pit across from the water which could hold 2-3 vehicles. Large group sized size at the end of the road.

3-4 bars AT&T and Verizon LTE

LOTS OF MOSQUITOS!!!

There was some trash around. Please tread lightly and pack all your trash out, including pet and human poop, the sites are too close to water to dig cat holes.

Inaccessible during the winter months, snowplows do not clear the area. Most of the turn-off spots past this point are marked for day-use only or as private property.

Nice dispersed spots near small lake... less than 10 miles from town. Alot of locals or long term campers with alot of trash:(
It is nice to have these free spots so close to town:)

Report Check-In

Nice spot next to the lake and under the trees for a night.

Report Check-In

Stayed for 7 days and loved every minute of it. Great views all around. Plenty of spots for miles down the paved road. The lake is safe for swimming although cold. Close to downtown McCall yet feels like your deep in the wilderness. Lots of drive by traffic including ATV.

Snowed in and inaccessible during the winter months. Most of the turn-offs past this point are marked for day-use only.

Report Check-In

Note once it snows, these camp site are not maintained. Luckily till mid November, it’s a great spot, 15 minutes from McCall. Don’t get discouraged if this spot is occupied, keep driving plenty more secluded camp spots

Report Check-In

beautiful but lots of mosquitoes. stagnant lake water attracting them but fishing good for rainbows.

Report Check-In

Good for the night. Road OK. Spaces with mud. Lot of mosquitos. Not clean.

Report Check-In

All along this road are areas to camp, even before this location. The main road is paved and camping areas are quick and easy to access, no 4x4 or high clearance needed. Maybe some are but not most.

Report Check-In

There are a ton of beautiful spots to camp at here for free. Remember to pack in and pack out. Don’t leave anything behind and respect the area. If you keep going down the road a little there’s a stunning spot with a river view. There weren’t as many mosquitoes there compared to the lake spots.

Report Check-In

Great spot. High clearance recommended as the road is VERY rutted. 3-4 sites, 2 for single vehicles on either side of a boulder on the waters edge and then a slightly slopes site across from it that could hold 2-3 small/medium rigs together. There’s a very large spot at the end of the short road.

Site was a bit dirty, please Leave-No-Trace and pack everything out, including poop. Site is too close to water for cat holes, you’d need to walk across the street and into the woods.

Great cell service. 3-4 bars of ATT LTE

LOTS OF MOSQUITOS.
