Description

Wonderful flat campsite run by Jorge Serrano- includes a toilet, shelter with hammock and showers (though not working when we were here). Was recommended by a local. Set in a beautiful peaceful valley. We had the place to ourselves. There is a pond - Carlos took our kids to feed the fish in the pond, Tilapia, if you want some.

A couple of small rivers run around the property and you can swim in them.

Jorge is continuing to develop the area, and there are a couple of cabins and some platforms. There are a couple of power sockets too.

He didn’t want to charge a specific price, and asked for a donation instead. We paid $200mx for 2 adults and two kids.

He also offered to arrange local food for us, but we already had things with us.

Jorge lives 5mins away, so if not here call or WhatsApp him (272) 199 5611

*Cost was $250 pesos a night for 2 with a van. Highly recommend

Latest Check-Ins

It is indeed a very beautiful place within the forest, but it’s super isolated, and as we were the only ones this night we didn’t feel reassured. Also the pathway to go there is really difficult for 2W when it has rained, even with a small van!
Toilets were not very clean, and showers not working.

Wonderful place. Beautiful river. We met Paco who also cooks delicious asados. Highly recommend. When were there, crossing the small river was not a problem at all.

We stayed here for 6 nights. It's a great place with a lot of peace. Jorge is a very friendly host and can help with many things. At night the gate is closed and he goes home. He comes back around 10 a.m. There are toilets and a makeshift shower with cold water. Access is a bit difficult. We were able to drive over the 2.60 m wide bridge, which has no side boundaries. Otherwise the only option is to cross the water. You can shop in the village, about 1.5 km walk. We paid 250 pesos per night. From December there will also be a small shop with food and drinks.

Here are a few more photos from the place. We were there at a time when it rained every day. But there were few mosquitoes.

Report Check-In

really nice and superquiet during the night. Jorge, the owner is closing the gate in the evening. in the morning he is usually not back before 10 am. so if you plan to leave early, better talk to him.
accordingly to the other comments, we are not sure if the pools are ever filled with water. Mañana!

I wanted to add some pics and forgot. I placed a few from around our site

The river was an easy cross for a 2x2. Many locals come here during the day without problems. That said, this is an active place from noon to 6 but we were here on a holiday weekend. The property is beautiful and peaceful in the mornings and evenings. They lock the gate at night so if safety is a concern, this is easy. I couldn’t find a shower but there is a toilet but no real sink or soap. The temps are cool in April/May, so we were very grateful and stayed 3 nights to enjoy the relief after the heat of Yucatán. There is a small tienda that sells beer and some snacks for good prices. Jorge is wonderful, he is so proud of his property and wants everyone happy. He cut and gave us sugar cane when we arrived. There are several sections to the property with swimming ponds. We planned for 2 nights then stayed three because it was exactly what we needed heading north.

Great night at Jorge’s place. A beautiful property and a very kind host. He offered to take us on a tour of the local grutas (caves), but we couldn’t stick around. Would definitely stay again.

Fantastic little campsite. Jorge and family and really welcoming. He parked us next to one of the pools. The place is obviously busy during the day with local families but super quiet at night. 250pesos per night. Highly recommended

Great place, flat, quiet, safe. Price is now 250 pesos for 2 in a van.

This place is a little paradise in the middle of the jungle! There are several swimming ponds- from which some were empty at the moment because he cleaned them.
Jorge is a very nice host. He showed us the surroundings with lots of picnic tables, swings and swimming pool. There is a toilet and shower.
The road is a bit of an adventure. When you come from the village Zapoapan take the road from Calle Nte 1 and not the one from Calle Nte 4!!! The crossing of the very small river is no problem at all!
If you are looking for some quite and peace you should definitely visit this place.

Report Check-In

Nice place in the middle of the forest. The road to here is an adventure and you need to cross a small creek. It was deeper than expected but no problem. The area is very well taken care of with beautiful rivers, pools and benches. We paid 200 pesos for 2 people for one night.

Report Check-In

Beautiful grounds with several swimming pools. We were during the week, it was very quiet at night.
The sanitary facilities are very simple, also a bit rough.
A source of drinking water is nearby, within walking distance.
Excellent Telcel 4G network.
We paid 200 pesos for 2 people per night.

Jorge is very friendly and it’s a nice area! Our timing wasn’t the best as we arrived on Saturday, so the place was pretty packed with people (Sunday also). Half of the pools were empty, but we found a little spot beside the stream. Everybody left by dusk and the evening was peaceful. They locked the bathroom door around 7pm, the other bathrooms were out of order. No showers. We paid 140 pesos for 2 people and our truck. Going on a weekday once the rain comes I think would be really nice!

Report Check-In

Beautiful secluded hidden EcoPark. The access is not that easy. Great location with lots of water, also drinkable and very few mosquitos

Report Check-In

Still perfect, quiet and safe. Only the last kilometer from the village trough sugar cane fields is narrow rough. The little creek is not a problem to cross.

Report Check-In

Really nice place. All said in previous posts. We had heavy rain. Because the little bridge is not suitable for heigh rigs yo have to cross a little creek

Report Check-In

Incredible Location! We have stayed here now 2 or 3 times.

Report Check-In

Beautiful and secluded place with lots of trees, plants and water. Due to heavy rain in the last days the stream that runs across the property unfortunately was muddy and we did not go swimming. Normally the water is clear though and there are great spots to dip in and cool off. Many tables and benches among the trees are provided as well.

Jorge is a great guy who shared his Gorditas with us for breakfast and took us on a spontaneous tour to see awesome caves close by. We also got a great view of the Pico de Orizaba.
This place is worth a visit only to hang out a day with him.

Price policy seems more fixed now. We were asked to pay 100 pesos/person a night.
The flush toilet and cold shower were clean.

Report Check-In

Very quiet place with superfriendly owners. We parked next to a little fishpond. There are two springs and you can take a bath in little pools. We filled our domestic water tank diving our pump in the small river. Very safe, good for relaxing, they also offer small tours to cave or waterfalls. You can also climb the hills where they plant organic coffee. On top nice view on Citlaltepetl.
We give 5 star rating!

Report Check-In

Nice and safe place surrounded by nature. You can swim in ponds, they have own springs. We filled our non-potable watertank diving our pump into the small river next to our RV. Jorge will organize food, little tours, whatever you want. Perfect for relaxing, ride your bike, climb the hills. Totally safe. You pay what it's worth to you.

Tropical paradise nestled in a mountain valley! A spring comes out of the mountain to create a couple of swimming ponds and the stream that circles this 3 acre property. Muy tranquila! Jorge is the nicest man and both camping and day use are by donation.

Report Check-In

Jorge is a very friendly and honest guy who's goal it is to conserve the nature around. The rivers are Cristal clear and it's super tranquilo here.. He took us on a day trip around the neighboring villages and showed us what nature has to offer here.. It's a beautiful place and everything is donation based.

Report Check-In

Great spot! We were dealing with a really friendly guy named Jorge, but I guess it’s the same place. Located in mountainous field with “natural” swimming pools. We got to park in the car park opposite the site for free. Jorge said it was safe at night, but he also offered us to stay in his garden in town or he would let someone come for 150p to guard the place while we were there. They brought us bread and fruit in the morning! (When navigating to this place, use maps.me because google doesn’t recognize the road leading here.)
