very quiet spot, no cell coverage (verizon)

Report Check-In

Nice maintained area. Was surprised when we arrived as it felt more like a party campground than BLM land. Not many spots as people point out. But beautiful scenery hidden back between 2 small buttes with the river going beside you. Private land behind the campground otherwise would have been some fun hiking. Dog friendly. No Verizon signal at the campground.

Report Check-In

A nice campground about 5-6 miles off the highway. Paved road the whole way until the campground. Tons of mosquitos — soooo many mosquitos!!!! But a beautiful spot by the river & very peaceful & quiet in a valley. Quite a few spots all spread out with a decent amount of privacy. Cows by our campsite this morning, behind a fence. Would definitely stop here again!

Report Check-In

Whew it was hot when we got there at 11am. No shade anywhere. Saw signs for alligators in the river so that sucked. Someone camping came over and said a huge mountain lion came through the previous day and then went into town scaring people. We have too many dogs so we left 😅

Report Check-In

All the reviews are true great place smooth drive to it

Report Check-In

Echos of what others have said, very easy paved road to the campsite, very beautiful with river access, free roaming cows, and rattlers…if you have a dog, do be careful. We only saw a dead one on the street, but we’re very vigilant after speaking with some locals.
The FLIES. Y’all, these biting flies do not quit. They will not take no for an answer. They want to talk about your car’s extended warranty and they will crawl through the rooftop AC to do it. The mosquitoes are bad at usual times and occasionally swarm.
Some big winds helped as the night went on, but the morning was for feasting.
No shade (both literally and metaphorically), and the nights were very cool.

5 official sites, with a pull through for 3 tent sites. Beautiful views. We were the only ones there during the day. Filled up every night including areas not designated for camping. Vault toilet spotless. Met the man cleaning and removing trash. Very nice and does a great job.

Absolutely idyllic! There are 5 sites. I stayed 6 nights. During the days, I was mostly alone. At night, other's came in for one night. Sites are spread out so even if someone takes the site next to you, they are far away. Sites are adjacent to Platte River. My dog and I took advantage and got in every day to get some relief from the heat. (And I had two baths in the river). Well-maintained Roads in allow easy access; the campground loop has some pretty big potholes, so just go slow and go around them when you can. Verizon was barely one bar and went in and out. Some days I could do YouTube and other days I couldn't even send a text. Coyotes, cows, coyotes, antelope and (at least) one rattlesnake. Did not use the pit toilet as I have my own bathroom. I'd definitely stay here again.

Report Check-In

stayed here overnight, nice and quiet. Few other RV, truck and car campers. T-MOBILE reception two bars. was able to use Whatsap and slow WiFi. location as described by others.

Report Check-In

This place is a hidden gem. Overnighted on a Saturday and only one other camper. Very quiet, beautiful and clean. Just as described. Will be back!

Report Check-In

Beautiful BLM Land with Picnic tables and fire rings right by the creek. Clean Pit toliets. Stayed here for 4 nights with no one around very quiet and peaceful.

Report Check-In

Same as a description, really good place, quiet with a good view. Couples bars of internet.

We arrived after dark, there were plenty of spots still open. The views in the morning were amazing!! It’s the cleanest vault toilet we’ve ever used. We will definitely stay again and bring firewood. Every site has a fire ring. Great find :)

Report Check-In

Awesome spot by the river. It was exceptionally windy, but found some tall bush coverage to hula hoop.
Previously stated amenities are still available. I got there just after the sun went down, and it was pretty full. In the morning everyone had left. Around 11am, a friendly BLM ranger came by asking if I caught any fish.
Really beautiful spot to leave better than you found it.

I am o0o0obsessed with this place. I wasn't planning on stopping in this town for the night but so many good reviews i had to see what the chitter chatter was about. First it's a 7ish mi drive into what looks like the middle of nowhere from the highway. Then you dip down a dirt road (a few minor pot holes) and follow the road a ways until you see the pit toilets. Then established camp sites, level and with fire rings, appear. Right next to a river. showing up at sunset was awesome. I had two tiiiny bars of Verizon but with my weboost I now have solid ATT coverage. A few other campers here, some waved while walking their dog. So much better than the hotel parking lot i was originally planning on. can't believe this place is free.

Report Check-In

Great spot. There are a few RV pull-through sites and additional pull-in or back-in spots. It was full by the time we went to bed but since it is BLM some folks who came in late at night found places to park and sleep just fine. Pit toilet was decent and had great 2 ply TP. We spent a quiet night here except for the coyotes. A person at a nearby site killed a rattlesnake so watch out...snakes a foot.

A nice, tiny and mostly quiet CG right alongside the North Platte River

I would have rated this CG 4 stars, if it weren’t for the rattlesnakes. We are full-timers in a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow and needed a place to boondock over the 4th weekend and this place fit the bill nicely. We stayed in the first site (site 5, go figure) on the loop for 7 days in early July. There are only 5 formal sites and one group site, but there are a few other informal sites to be had as well just outside the CG. The sites are gravel and all looked “fairly” level. We managed to just get level. Site 5 is a very long site and there are some fairly large potholes at the front of the site, but the backend is smooth. The sites are spaced about 100 yards or so apart, give or take depending on location. The grounds are all open sagebrush and there are a lot of rattlesnakes in the area - we saw four. Terri had a close encounter with one on the side of the road and 2 days later our dog was bitten right on the side of the road also and had to stay two nights at the vet in Rawlins, so be aware and careful. The mosquitos can be pretty bad in the mornings and evenings, but not too bad with the breeze/wind during the day. The biting flies can be an issue any time of day. Lemon Eucalyptus seemed to be pretty effective at keeping both at bay most times. However, the gnats are small enough to make it through our screens and our Katchy pad was full every morning. The ants were also rather pesty when sitting outside. As others have mentioned, we have seen deer, bald eagles, ducks, pelicans and heard a band of coyotes that came rather close to camp one night. AT&T coverage is a spotty in this area without a booster, typically only 1-2 Bars of 3G service and up to 0.05 MB/s. With our weboost we were able to get 3-4 bars of LTE, with speeds up to 0.5 MB/s. T-Mobile had 4 bars of 4G service, with speeds up to 1.5 MB/s. It was probably LTE, but our Solis X hotspot only delivers 4G. We were able to get DISH coverage on all three western satellites at our site. There were no OTA channels to be had with our fixed omni antenna.

There is a dirt road that goes past the CG, and looking at Google Maps (satellite), there appears to be dispersed camping along the river down there, but this is apparently private property with a locked gate barring entrance, at least while we were here. Some the locals/owners were camped there over the holiday weekend and got rather loud at times, firing guns and riding their ATVs back and forth on that road well into the night. The other nights were quiet. Also, one of their dogs, a white Husky mix, wandered all the way from their camp into ours and right up to our RV, and though probably friendly otherwise, nearly had an altercation with our dog.

This place is really nice - quiet, clean bathrooms and beautiful scenery. Nice toilet paper. The air after the rain smells like sagebrush. No cell service with Verizon.

Report Check-In

This is a great find, with about 7 or 8 sites. Beautiful river views. Clean pit privy. Picnic bench at our site. Quiet. Good spacing between sites.

Report Check-In

Stayed here 1 night. Great location. Sites have grills and picnic tables. Trash cans throughout and a pit toilet. Several other vans and rvs here. One area with grass where you can rent camp. No T-Mobile initially but got a few bars with my cell booster. Highly recommend this stop.

Report Check-In

yep nice spot, on the river, flat, good dirt road, I was the only van here. If I stand on the picnic table I can get 1 bar verizon

Report Check-In

Small campground by the river. Some sites have picnic tables and fire pits, and most can for big rigs. A few spots before the campground can also fit big rigs. If you go off to the right as you go around the campground circle there is a smaller road that goes on back and splits off into several smaller sites by the river.

-- Traveling Outside The Baatz --

As described. Nice place only about 11 minutes off I-80.

All paved roads to access site. The location is right on the river with good scenery.
During our stay very clean pit toliet. The sites are level. Most are large enough for a big rig. There are two pull-thru sites.

We were the only ones here during our stay.

Report Check-In

Nice spot but it fills up fast. Near the water for fishing. Mosquitoes were pretty thick.

Report Check-In

Great little camp site right by the rivers. But the mosquitos were bad for a while. There are only five back in and one pull through. Pit toilet. No wife/ cell service here. If you have to get supplies- goto Rawlins.

Report Check-In
