Description

Location of the office. The paintings are up in the mountains where you will go with the guide. According to the guide there (Amon) prices did change recently and normally guide was included but now not anymore? Not sure if this is true as you still need to have a guide to accompany you there and you get two different receipts? Anyway, it is totally worth the money to go there! UNESCO Heritage site and 2nd most important rock painting site of whole Africa! Costs were 30000 TSH for guide, 27.000 TSH per person entrance. We needed to hire a bike for the guide (15.000 TSH) as we were there with only 1 bmw GS 1200. Path is about 9 km and quite heavy off-road. You need 4x4 and off-road experience (stones, rocks, sand). If you don't have 4x4 you can sit in back on the motorcycle of the guide, bumpy ride but it will work ;-). View from up there is magnificent! Three sites of rockpaintings, you will access by foot (1.5 hour tour).

Latest Check-Ins

The price is 27.000 pp. getting the permit to see the rock paintings. It doesn't matter how many sites you want to see the price is the same. You pay that amount per day. When we asked at the beginning for the prices they told us 27.000 permit pp. and 30.000 guide fee. On the official price list, which you can see in the office, is no guide fee written. It shows just the permit price. We asked why it is not on the price list and that our travel guide says guide fee is included. After that the guide said that it is like a tip and this is the normal amount the people give.
We told we will pay the permit and tipping we do the normal way after the tour and got a receipt of 54.000. In the end we tipped 30.000 which was ok for us because he spend 6.5 hours with us.We saw 3 sites!
