Description

Lovely place with super friendly South African owners. Small campsite with basic but good enough ablutions. Free WiFi. Cosy guesthouse, restaurant and bar. They usually charge 6000 but I stayed for free because I ate and drank in their restaurant. Highly recommend staying here!

As other descriptions, lovely place. It is however really like camping in someone's garden, so we did not stay here. The military boats are immediately right of you and you are not allowed to swim that side.

very nice campground. Friendly owner. Campside offers space for two cars under a big Mango tree. Nice and cosy bar and Restaurant.

As in previous descriptions, it’s a nice place! Liked the canoeing and snorkeling. They tried to charge us 7200kw pp. Derek claimed that this was always the price but I don’t think iOverlander is lying. After some discussion we agreed on 7200kw for two, but quoting Derek “this should not become the standard”....After that it was a good stay! Laundry (washing machine, one pillowcase full): 4000kw.

Lovely small but cozy campsite. The staff and owner Warren very helpful. My negative is that the fees of $10pppn was not except able. Would have like to stay for 3 or more nights but not at this rate. Only stayed for 1 night.

Nice spot with a more unique view of the lake, showcasing fishermen and military boats. The lodge has a very homey vibe and the manager Derick is kind, attentive and very helpful. The wifi was fast and worked throughout our stay. There isn't plenty of camping space especially if a few overlanders are there but still a great place to stay for a night or two. There is a resturant on site with great made to order meals. For the 2 of us we paid total 7,200 for camping so about $5 per person. Dinner was roughly 6,000 a dish and a full english breakfast was 3,500 per person.

Nice welcome by Frankie, and some good music on, relax vibes and free wifi!! The lodge is nicely done, camping under the mango tree for 3600Kw pppn. Nice to see a place with motivated owners who interact with guests for a change so a great place to hang and chat with others and if you are lucky Frankie will take you for a spin in the speedboat. The beach is unfortunately not great to swim and the navy boats make for a rather eclectic view but take a canoe for Kw2000 per hour and paddle out to the island to swim and snorkel (those are for free to borrow).

Great place to stay. Clean rooms, great host and quiet, very quiet. Camping is possible but we stayed in a room for about 30 dollar including breakfast. Free WiFi

Camped under a massive mango tree looking right at the small Harbour with fishing boats. Ablutions good and clean. Nice restaurant where they cook a special meal every night, delicious real home cooking. Very friendly owner and staff. Nice and quiet not hassled by beach hustlers. Free WiFi if you camp or stay in one of the rooms. You can hire canoe’s and go snorkeling, Frankie will also take you out on his speed boat or you can walk to the fishing villages in the nature reserve right next door.

Nice place, the two managers from South Africa are very good guys. I had the dinner and the breakfast (breakfast is very very good!!), so they didn't charge me the night with my tent

Lovely place with super friendly South African owners. Small campsite with basic but good enough ablutions. Showers with warm water (not super hot but ok-the ones inside the house are much better and hot). Free fast WiFi. Cosy guesthouse, restaurant and bar. They usually charge 6000 pppn but I stayed for free because I ate and drank in their (not so cheap but good) restaurant. You can definitely negotiate camping price. Rooms around 30$. Breakfast for 3500 KW, best breakfast in months!

Note that you have to cross a military base to get to this place. Just follow the signs. About 1km from the main road.

This is a true oasis in dusty Monkey Bay! Great lush garden, private beach, porches with nice hammocks, kayaks, SUP, fishing rods, ... Highly recommend staying here!
