Description

Another guesthouse/campgroud on the Congo-Nile trail, beautiful and quiet just on the lakeside.
It's run by a charity and the manager is a friendly and cultivated young man, fluent in french and english.
Self-contained rooms for 10000 francs, camping in tent on a little flat grassy area, just meters from their small private beach for 5000 francs. Camping in vehicle ok in the yard, but no view from there.
Big dinner for 5000 (they were not expecting anybody, but managed to get some supplies and got some fresh fish from a little fishing boat that was around). Breakfast 2000. Very good coffee from their own plantation.
No village around, so bring supplies if needed.
Great place ! Only downside for me is the absence of beer...

After hours and hours I didn't manage to get there, it was just too sad. I tried going north, then east and then south, but the villagers told me that each time it was blocked, the roads were impassable by car or a bridge had been destroyed. The last attempt was the grey track shown on the app, but it was horrible even with a 4x4 and very, very long. At the junction for the Rushel Hotel, some villagers stopped me and then I was discouraged by the distance I still had to cover. I decided to turn back.

Very basic campsite but stunning views of the lake and prime position campsite. We didn’t use shower but they do have a bathroom but with cold water showers. 5000 per person per night. We had a good stay and would recommended

Magic locstion camped on the beach, watchibg the fisherman and small ferry boays.
Didnt use any facilities, still 5000 pppn
See my image of the access under coverered area, my vehicle is 2.4m high with tbe tyre on the roof.
Agree thsy camping in tbe yard would severely limit the experience.

It's worth it only if you can camp on the lawn by the beach. The parking lot isn't nice at all! The good thing is they cut one of the roof bars so we could pass with our car to reach the beachfront! But if you have a very high car you might still not pass through (look at the photo to have an idea). The place is very simple but the sandy beach is worthy it. Toilets and showers are quite rundown and if you want hot water you'll have to bucket shower. We prefered bathing in the lake. 😅 Also note that you must cross a school to reach the guesthouse and it was noisy sometimes. If you're not too picky you'll enjoy the place a lot. We paid 10,000 for 2 people with a rooftop tent per night. Great MTN and Airtel mobile internet.

Nice place at the Lake. It is behind a local school.
Great area for little hikes. We could not drive in the garden, as you have to pass a roof, which was to low for our Landrover with RTT. The parking area in front of the house is not so nice but we spend our time in the garden at the lake, which is beautiful.

The manager was not there when we arrived which ended in some language difficulties. No one of the staff speaks english - so they cooked dinner for us the first night although we didn't asked for it 😅.

They boil water for you on request, we were allowed to pick some avocados from the tree and the price was still 5000. The manager told us that the price will rise to 10000 in the future.

Really nice place location wise on the nile Congo trail. John the manager allowed us to take our cars with rtt on to the lawn just right by the beach. Electric hookup, and toilet inside the hikers base. Cold running water when requested. Nice dinner for 5k and paid 5k for camping. Also hired a local yet leaking canoe from here. They crush fresh coffee locally which you can buy 8k per kilo. Stayed 3 nights as weather was perfect.

Awesome (!) location @ Lake Kivu. We managed to bring our 4x4 onto the lawn and camped directly at the beach. Camping 5.000,-. Electricity from a close by apartment, shower (cold) in the apartment. Good 4G network. Firewood available for free. Enjoyed that place very much.

We stayed for two nights in RTT in parking lot with no view for 10 000 per tent per night. Whilst the parking lot camping is pretty average, the view in front of the house is spectacular. We cooked at the car and the. ate our meals on the grass in front overlooking the lake. If you have a ground tent, you can camp on the grass next to the lake. We took dinner one night. 5000rwf for buffet dinner, huge portions. Worth the stop to relax for a few days and meet some other travelers. I would recommend this place.

Info all the same. Stayed with RTT in parking area in the back. You can walk around the house and enjoy the garden and private beach on the lake. Beautiful drive to get here. Cold shower and flush toilet. They boil water if you need hot water. Quiet nice spot.

Everything remains as before. Camping for 5000, single room for 10000, double for 15000. Dinner and breakfast at 5000 and 2000 respectively. Free drink of tea or coffee on arrival. Hot water provided for showers on request. The staff can show you a shortcut to Kinunu if hiking the Congo Nile Trail.

We stayed 3 people for a night, and payed only for tent 5 000, they didn't charge for our car in where we were sleeping. It was impossible to drive in the guesthouse property because our car is too wide. So we stayed just at the lake shore, it's grassy with some cow's droppings... It's close to the school but people and kids are friendly. Good breakfast for 2000.
