We went to Klein Bolayi without a booking. The guard let us in. There are lodges, backpackers accomodation and camping sites. The owners are very nice, there is also a swimming pool, a restaurant/bar, wifi, hot showers and electricity. You can book dinner or breakfast if wanted. Camping is R300 for max. 2 people, additional people pay extra.
We wanted to stay only one night but stayed for 2, as it was so nice.
Can fully recommend this place.

Arrived on a saturday - the gate guide let me in and gave me the directions to the campsite. But nobody was there or pitched so I made myself comfortable, driving out the next day I met Elmar, the owner of the farm. Chatting to him was very interesting to learn about the place.

They are building some Tipis at the moment out of planks and canvas with lots of bunkbeds inside. A new ablution block is getting build.

I would phone next time in advance to make sure someone is there to freshen up the bathroom. But also making sure that there isn’t a huge group of kjds.

The baobabs on the farm a mind blowing! And knowing about the story of the place definitely worthwhile a visit.

Camping absolutely recommended. Small campsite at the foot of the bolayi rock. The ablution will be replaced in the medium term by a new building and there are several bushcamps in planning. A place with one of the highest density of baobabs. There is a new fireplace and some beds with plants have been replanted.
The highlight was that Jean-Marc surprised us in the morning with homemade baobab coffee, which was very tasty and may be purchased in the future in the farm store.
R300 for two adults and two children pn is more than fair.

Campsite currently being upgraded. Beautiful and scenic environment. Friendly and helpful staff. Stay-over recommended

Report Check-In

A very special place! Camping is a bit rustic but the lodge is absolutely beautiful, just a 1 minute walk from the campsite.

The campsite is on the foot of a massive rock and the owner, Elmer, has tons of stories about his area what was once part of a great African Kingdom.
They found ancient artifacts here and the rock was a holy place in that time.

The museum of Mapungubwe is definitely a place to go when you want to know more about the history about this place.

Very special place and the owners and staff are all very warm and friendly.

There is a restaurant, bar, swimming pool, they have beautiful chalets and the place is surrounded by a lush garden.

Definitely a must go.

The bell at the gate is not working so you must just open de gate yourself and drive in.

Price is ZAR 120 per site plus ZAR 60 pP. To get to the campsite might means some work for high vehicles /trucks because of some bushes / low hanging trees. In our case they gave us a nice chalet (the owner were not there and the stuff was not sure what to do with bushes).

Report Check-In

Very welcoming and helpful owner Elmer. Beautiful location next to a rock. Due to the Zimbabwean situation there are less guests and the ablutions are a bit run down, but when we came they immediately cleaned them. They are in the process of restoring the complex, focusing on the foreign market.
