Description

Huge farm from colonial times with friendly staff, cottages for rent and camping on level grassy sites with new ablutions (2023), good restaurant. Price of Camping is linked to US dollar which is $10 per person per night for camping, under 12 half price. be careful if you want electricity: they charge you indicredibly 1500 KES (12 US$) for one night and its not even on the spot, you need long extension !

Restaurant only open for pre-booking before 4 pm. Wifi in restaurant. Very friendly, knowledgeable owner Andrew.

Social project with knitting work from local ladies with organic cotton or sheep wool - impressive tour possible and nice shop to buy products.

A really great campsite. Perfect for some R@R after time on the road or bush camping. Level grassy sites with sparkling clean ablutions with plenty of hot water. Laundry service if you ask. Great menu in the restaurant and bar and reasonably priced. Camping USD 8 per night. Also have cottages, but never asked the price. The owner, Andrew, super helpful and friendly. Highly recommended

Great campsite on a working farm. Clean ablutions, ample hot water and flushing toilets. Restaurant and bar. USD 8 per person is great value.

Report Check-In

Nice place, level ground on grassy area with completely new washrooms on a high level and very clean. restaurant available (pre-book) at average pricelevel, extensive menue. cottages to rent or camping. social project "knitting work" for ladies of the area. they show you around if you wish and explain the project, or you just pop in at their shop and buy some local handmade stuff. recommendable place near Nakuru. 2600 KES for 2 pax is above average but for what you get its okay.

PS when we paid our bill we were charged $10 for electricity but it was scrapped as we’d not been told at the onset. 😳🫢

Fabulous campsite. Best ablutions, level, grassy campsite, super restaurant. Lovely owner. What more can I say? Perfect stop en-route to and from Nairobi.

Report Check-In

Lovely place, green, good clean ablutions with warm shower, good food in the restaurant. All very positive. For us, it was relatively expensive because the kids pay full price here (USD 8 pp)

Report Check-In

Lovely spot with super friendly owners.
Very peaceful and quiet throughout the night.
Very clean ablutions with hot showers.
We really enjoyed our time here! We paid $32 for 4 people for 1 night.
$8 per person.

Report Check-In

A superb little campsite on green grass, with excellent toilets and showers (just keep the doors shut to keep the bugs and dogs out).

They also have a really nice bar and restaurant area.

Also worth asking about the community knitting project Kenana Knitters. They have a little shop on site worth visiting.

A beautiful stopover in the area.

Report Check-In

wonderful place indeed. price for camping is now 8 $ or the equivalent in kes.

Report Check-In

The campsite is a very big grassfield with little shelters for shade. There are 6 amazing bathrooms with hot showers, which are super clean. It's probably the best ablutions on a campsite I've seen so far in Kenya! There is a bar and a restaurant with good WiFi and nice sofas. The architecture of the place is amazing and the owners are super nice!
We would definitely recommend to go here. Camping is 1000 Ksh per person.

Good campsite with clean ablutions, hot shower. Beautiful restaurant, food not tried. I guess this place must be really nice in rainy season, now everything was dry. Camping 1000 KES or 8 USD pppn. Good for a stopover but for us no highlight (according to lonely planet Kenya it is). If you go make sure to check their shop with home knitted products and much more for a good cause. Also, Gad, a worker there makes the most beautiful watercolour paintings of birds (among other things). We bought one for a very good price and he was exceptionally happy.

Report Check-In

A lovely restful campsite with lush grass to camp on. Ablutions are new and clean. Charges was KES 1000 pp, half for kids under 12. We arrived around 5pm, by which time the restaurant was only willing to serve pizza. The pizza was good & much appreciated. Wifi in the restaurant. Owner Andrew is 5th generation and knows everything (and everyone) in the area. Received very helpful onward travel advice.

Note to Andrew: something is wrong with the waterpressure in the ablutions. If your neighbour opens a tap, your shower stops.

Report Check-In

Very nice place, very friendly. Showers and toilets are world class, in fact better than most hotels we stayed at in Kenya.
Camping area is very tidy.
See the pictures.

Report Check-In

Did not stay here because we did not feel welcome. We texted a few hours before we were expected to arrive to ask if they had space for us and if the restaurant was open.
They would not keep the restaurant open later than 6 pm without any prior payments…(we don’t have mpesa). We said we would arrive at 7, but they just said no exceptions.
So we decided to move on.

Report Check-In

Really nice campsite on a working farm with all the amenities needed for a proper rest stop. Laundry service, wifi, restaurant, cold beer, hot showers. The new immaculate ablutions have the rare luxury of having the toilet, sink and shower in the same large room! We had breakfast and dinner and the food was good. Firewood was brought to our campsite upon request. Andrew was a gracious host as well as a wealth of information on the area. The knitting project and gift shop at the farm are really impressive and well worth a visit. Camping was $6 pppn.

Hi Overlanders, this is Andrew - one of the campsite owners. We've spent our time during the Covid lockdowns in giving Kembu a complete facelift. New toilet and shower block, better wifi, more lawned terraces, new washing up and laundry sinks, new cook shelters. Its looking great and the farm and gardens are still beautiful as ever. Welcome!

Report Check-In

lovely green camping area. great new ablution block. make sure to ask for a farm visit. $6 pp/night.

Report Check-In

It’s a very nice place with a new built Campsite and new, perfect working showers and toilets.
Wonderful farm, beautiful restaurant. At the moment ( still Covid-19) you have to order food in advance.
Friendly people, 6 $ pppn.

Lovely campsite and cottages, located on an active dairy farm where they also breed horses. The campsite is situated on a large grassy area near the restaurant and bar, where they also serve great home made three course meals. During chilly evenings the fireplace is lit and coal fire stove are provided. The view from the campsite is fabulous over the lush garden and nice surrounding landscape. There are latrine toilets and showers, basic, but al tidy and clean. Great place for an overnight stay, or better, for a couple of days to escape from the rush of daily life.

Report Check-In

Neat and green! Flat camping area and a rain shelter came in handy. Tap at the camp area and a close WC. Showers are hot and near the main restaurant. 600ksh per person
andbar. We didn’t eat here but they had 3 course menu for

Report Check-In

Such a lovely place to spend a night or two after (or before) visiting Lake Nakuro NP (less than one hour drive from main gate). Great camping area with clean ablutions and hot water. Amazing staff and really good food. We were the only guests at this night and they prepared a private dinner for us directly at the cosy fire place. 3 course dinner for 1.500 KES pp (not cheap, but definitely worth it). You can spend your time reading a book at the nice restaurant area or playing chess at the lawn. Really tidy place to relax and chill. We definitely recommend this place!

Report Check-In

Lovely place for a stop over. Flat ground for camping. Food is wholesome and decent. Long drop toilets are actually not bad at all and cleaner than many flushing toilets we’ve encountered. Showers are hot. Staff friendly.

Report Check-In

What a wonderful find. Lovely campsite with restaurant and fireplace. Beautiful grounds with picnic table, fire pit and enclosed kitchen area for campers. Plenty of room for big rigs and flat areas for roof top tents. 600 ksh per person. Highly recommended. We will be coming back.

Report Check-In

What a pretty place. A very nice and good looking campsite. We loved the big garden with a great variety of trees and flowers. We spotted a lot of different birds and even got to pet a little deer that was popping by. In the evening we enjoyed a beer at the fireplace. Really nice camping time!

Report Check-In

When coming here I was expecting a rustic farm location, but in reality it’s a very well established campground and they have cottages for rent too. The owners breed racing horses and keep diary cows and also have a lot of land for agriculture. All very modern. Showers are still good and hot, long drop toilets are clean, the grassy terraces are level and there’s plenty of shade in the morning. The owner said that the WiFi will be available in a few weeks - they are already working on it. The road to get here is new tarmac, just the dirt road inside the farm territory is a bit bumpy.

Report Check-In

Nice place, but no hot water when we arrived (fixed in the night), no wifi and children to pay same price as adults. No way to discuss with owner, so overpriced for familly, go in an other place if you're travelling with children !

Report Check-In

very nice place with green grass under shadow trees, very friendly staff. clean toilet latrins, hot shower.
possibility to buy meat, fresh milk and other food.
its 630 ksh p/p

Report Check-In

I though it was quite charming. Best meal I've had in ages. I found the showers and bathrooms much to my liking as well. No interweb but maybe you wouldn't want interweb here anyway.

Report Check-In

very nice campsite in a well kept farm which in days past must have been in a remote location, but which is now no longer the case as the Nakuru-Eldoret and the Njoro-Molo Highways both run a few kilometers off the site, but near enough for the vehicles to be audible. 2 of our party of 6 took the Cobb's Carriage cottage and were very comfortable there though disappointed by the lack of hot water attributable to a neglected problem, which the management has absolutely no excuse for not fixing. we all ended up using the camping area showers which were super hot but once again, housed in ramshackle structures with broken hangers and soap holders whose state is at odds with an otherwise excellent and very clean campsite. Why management would let such small matters remain unresolved to ruin an otherwise very good camp site, I simply cannot comprehend). All said and done, its a beautiful place.

Report Check-In

Campsite is on green grass with nice facilities, shower is outdated but has hot water. Overall setup is good, bar area is nice however owner charges ksh 200 for electricity and ksh600 for firewood.

We are here for a 2nd time and this is for a good reason. Gras dry at the moment, but we have had the 1st rain today.
