Great spot! Not perfectly level but didn't require too many blocks. Spots are fairly close together so you will have neighbors. Spots have a picnic table, and a fire ring. There are vault toilets and bear-proof trash cans. One bar T-Mobile.

We spent one night at this place, it was cool and safe ! Be careful to the road , there is lot of stones , you have to be very slow

Stayed one night here mainly because we were skeptical about the snow storm coming and didn’t want to get stuck in there to long. Really cute place you have to cross a little rocky river our Mercedes sprinter 2wd did fine but still a bit sketchy lol. Quiet nice night close to gila cliff dwellings

This is a compact and free campground along route 15 on the way to Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument. There are about 8 sites. There are fire rings with grills attached, picnic tables, pit privies, and bear-proof trash containers. You have to cross a shallow rocky stream to get to the campground. We had no trouble crossing it in our Promaster van with AT tires. The stream also makes lovely sounds. There is ample firewood around. Rather shady among tall pines, so you may not be able to get a good solar charge. Excellent place to stop on the way to or from the cliff dwellings.

Great little campground, we showed up around 3pm and found a prime spot to park our 170 Sprinter. Not all spots will accomodate rigs much larger than us, especially if it's busy. There are 8 free sites, trash, pit toilets, no water, no service. Beautiful though and will be gorgeous when the creek is flowing.

Two weeks ago, a posting said this cg was closed. It is open now, one other car camper here. It is free to stay here, always a great selling point. Free site means more money for gas, agree? Tall trees, down in a valley so it is pretty dark right now in the rain but wind protected. Sun dappled in the morning but you do not have a view of the hoodoos you just drove by. OK for an overnighter before going to the Cliff Dwellings. Must be nice in the hot months with all these trees for shade. I do not agree that big rigs will fit here. This is small and narrow.

Vault toilets, trash receptacles, tables and metal fire ring at each site. There is another small cg, McMillon, about a half mile up the road. Also dark.

I suggest you drive further up the paved, serpentine road where the views will amaze you! 360 degrees of beauty. See photos. There are dozens of dispersed pull outs on the way to the Dwellings.

As previously stated, currently closed but was able to park overnight in the parking area no problem. Zero cell service pretty much anywhere in the area.

currently closed for winter-see picture for further info about nearby campground winter closures

Nice little free campground. 9 sites, trash, and vault toilets. Zero Verizon service.
I was the only one there. Most sites level. Too small for large vehicles. Another CG one mile up.

Report Check-In

This campground is open. Gate probably closed during winter months. There is no second access road to this campground, but about half a mile up the road there is an additional campground. Both are marked.
2 pit toilets, about 6-7 campsites with fire pits and picnic tables, quiet, no wind.

Report Check-In

Closed for winter. Sign and gate closed.

Excellent small campground, (8 sites) out in the middle of the pines. As one reviewer said you need to cross a creek to get to the campsites however at this time of year it was dry and easily passable. Quiet, clean and free. YAY! PS: If coming from the south, pass the first apparent entrance unless you have serious clearance as there is a very sharp drop, the second driveway (the one with the creek) is very easy to navigate. 1 bar TMobile

Arrived after dark. There was a creek that you have to drive over to get to the camping spots. It was about 1/2 foot deep, soft gravel. (See picture) We decided to not risk it and parked near the entrance by the road, as we were leaving in the am for Gila Cliff Dwellings. Fairly flat spot. Great free overnight stop before going to the Gila Cliff Dwellings.
Had pit toilets and garbage bins. But again you have to cross the creek to get to them.
