Quiet place with a nice view. Parking lot + space for tents or RVs.
You can make a fire along the coast, there's a little beach down the hill.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Beautiful, quiet spot.
Construction crew started working around 7am.
Clean and beautiful scenery
Awesome Place! A picture of this lighthouse is on the sticker we put on our camper.
As in every place we camp at, we picked up other’s trash, tho this place was fairly clean.
Report Check-InI was at this place and everything is the same. I suspect this place will be No Camping after the restoration of the lighthouse, looks like they're building a real parking lot there. So enjoy while you can.
Report Check-InWe stayed here one night with our 25’ trailer.
Beautiful place, amazing scenery, very quiet and very clean.
Easy to get to.
The lighthouse is under small renovation.
Gorgeous place to car camp. Plenty of space for privacy. Decent cell signal (verizon).
But lots of trash! CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF!
Report Check-InThe best spot we have found in PEI so far. No facilities and access to beach area does require a climb but it's quiet, peaceful and generally not too bad for bugs. Would come back again.
Report Check-InLovely spot overlooking the water.
To the right of the lighthouse (currently under construction) there is an open area that can accommodate many tents/RV’s. The pad slope is slight but anyone with some 2x6’s to drive wheels onto can be level in seconds. The water view is spectacular with no obstructions.
To the left of the lighthouse there is a grassy area that is mostly flat ish but it is surrounded by trees; water views are not as plentiful. On the far left there is a treed path on a hill leading down to a small beach with excellent access to swim.
We were here mid-week, at the height of the summer and there were only 2 other campers. There are so many spots and nooks and crannies to pull into we couldn’t even see them.
There are a few established fire spots - bring your own combustibles.
No amenities - please pack out whatever you bring.
Gorgeous spot to pitch a tent for the evening. Saw an Osprey catch fish out of the ocean in the morning. Lighthouse is under construction. Large clearing adjacent to the site - looks like developments in the future. Take garbage.
Report Check-Inhow sad when you look over the cliff here there is trash everywhere please don't be one of those people Don't come here and trash this area.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot. A few others here with us. Nice view over the water of Charlottetown. Porto potty. No water. Road could be messy if raining. Red shale is prevalent. Minimal wi-fi.
Report Check-InWonderful! We would definitely come back to this place. Enough parking lots to have your privacy. 1 RV and 1 trailer tent were already there before us and still available space. The view is magnificent.
Report Check-InAwesome place to stay, had a great conversation with the locals. With the wind the bugs weren’t too bad there’s also a few spots to go down to the beach
Report Check-InLighthouse at the end of Blockhouse Rd. There are 4 people with small rigs , one 20’ TT, 2 Promasters, 1 minivan are here tonight. Plenty of room for everyone.
The grassy area to the left of the lighthouse looks pretty muddy so we parked right next to the lighthouse in the driveway area. There is a fire pit area at the edge on that side.
There is a fire pit on the other side also. The view is great and the area is quiet.
The road coming in looks like it will be pretty muddy with a lot of rain. Some parts were deep dirt and washed out.
The last km or 2 of the red clay/mud road getting here is sketchy in the rain (think: skating rink) but this spot is so worth the trip. Even though it’s raining, the sea is beautiful and my dog can run. Magnificent.
Report Check-InGreat place to spend the night, close to the lighthouse, several possible locations, large enough to respect everyone's privacy. Magnificent landscape at dusk. We recommend!
***
Super endroit où passer la nuit, à côté de Charlottetown, proche du phare, plusieurs emplacements possibles, assez vaste pour respecter l’intimité de chacun. Magnifique paysage à la tombée du jour. On recommande!
The lighthouse still here and working. Looks like it’s being gutted, but have seen no workers. Just a few locals doing low tide dog walks.
Same as previously stated. Avoid during rain, the road down severely rutted on one side, the rust dirt looks ripe for being slippery slop.
Other than that, beautiful spot, especially on the grass west of the parking lot. Fire ring(s) could use some work but truly peaceful.
Report Check-InIt’s a big parking area. Beautiful views! Looks like it could be quite muddy and hard to drive after a rain. We only had one other van with us so it was quiet. By the looks of the toilet paper strewn everywhere, it could be a busy spot during summer season.
Report Check-InBeautiful views, lots of places to camp but unfortunately lots of mosquitoes. Would come back to this place again.
Report Check-Inwanted to sleep here but it was very muddy and rain forecast for another 24h. I was scared I wouldn't be able to drove up the Hill after another day of rain so I left for the nearest campground. there is A LOT of room in the dirt parking lot and a big grassy area next to the lighthouse
Report Check-InBig parking area on the right side of the lighthouse and big grassy area on its left. Quite muddy so the access from the left can be tricky after a big rain. The view is amazing! There's a forestry operation in front of the site right now so it becomes loud early during the week days.
Report Check-InDirt road to campsite, can be muddy if it has rained much. Arrived at night another van and bus there. Plenty of space. Beautiful sunrise. Too many mosquitoes to go outside.
Report Check-InPretty good spot to camp, lot of space and there's a campfire near. Be aware, there's a Shitton or mosquitoes.
Report Check-Inreally quiet and cool place to camp, some locals with tent and other RV but the area it's big enough to find your own space! also good LTE reception here !
Report Check-InA few local visiting in the evening, but quiet and private through the night… Just what we needed
Report Check-InBeautiful spot with lots of space to camp. A few people came in and out during the day even in the off season. Certain areas are really filled with garbage tho. Watch out for the small cliffs if you arrive in the night.
Report Check-Inlocated across the bay from Charlottetown on the peninsula. tent, vans and trailers, sites in the trees, in the open on both sides of the light house. be aware you are beside a light house that's lights up every in the open.
Report Check-InTres belle place! C’est très calme mais peut être assez venteux et beaucoup de moustiques en soirée! En plus beaucoup de réseau donc très pratique !
Report Check-InNice place, lots of other campers here, hard to find a flat spot. Great photo ops, friendly campers. Flies and mosquitoes were atrocious. Quiet and the light from the lighthouse was eerily soothing
Report Check-InThis a beautiful lighthouse, but be aware they don't cut grass here. There is another overlander here, rest of the place is empty.
Report Check-InNice place to camp! We got there late and left pretty early, but nice scenery! There were at least 3 other RV-campers there, so we found a spot close to the lighthouse to pitch our tent, was a bit tight but worked fine.
There’s a fire pit down a little path. Lots of noisy crows in the morning and mosquitoes, was fun for a night.
Report Check-Inbelle endroit paisible a côté du phare blockhouse au bout du chemin blockhouse facile d'accès
Report Check-Instayed there for the night, pretty calm but other campers did notice some locals come in late at night blaring music. great views. there were a couple loud crows in the morning. mosquitoes come out when it's dark but disappeared when the sun came out. lots of places to camp at for tents and hammock campers.
Report Check-InSuper calm spot at night, the lighthouse give a stunning atmosphere.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot. There was some trash as other reviews have mentioned. Several locals came to hang out, have fires and some stayed the night in tents or cars. There are several fire pits both inside the wooded area that can be accessed by trail and in the open grassy area. There seemed to be a lot of others that were just checking out the lighthouse and left. We spent two nights here and felt safe with no issues. There’s a National historic monument site a couple kilometers down the road which is passed on the way to the lighthouse. There are beautiful walking/biking trails there.
Report Check-InEasy to locate since the light house is only about 100 meters away. Some other travelers stopped by as I was setting up my tent. At dusk mosquitoes drove me into my tent. Nice setting, would stay there again.
Several visitors over the day, but very quiet at night. Really beautiful place with lots of space and different views. Unfortunately, some RVs set their "black water markers". Terrible behavior!
No facilities. Telus 5bars.
Absolutely loved this spot! Big wide open grass field, but also a few spots tucked into the trees. Wonderful views. Stormy and windy the night I was there, made it very eerie with the green light of the lighthouse but it was very cool! Mosquitoes were bad at night (as they seem to be everywhere in PEI this time of year) but being bug spray and it is very worth coming here! Half hour to Charlottetown.
Report Check-InCool spot, nice view, pretty quiet.
No mosquito.
Good cellphone network.
Gorgeous views of the ocean, very dark at night and quiet. One other set of campers when I was here but lots of room for privacy. Please keep off the dunes as they are eroding every year!
Report Check-InThis is a nice spot. lots of room.
I wonder if other IOverlanders have trouble finding places for garbage. perhaps that should be a category?
Someone pulled up at the last place we were at, put their garbage on the grass and then left. not nice!!!!
Report Check-InStayed here last night. perfectly quiet, with the lights of Charlletown shining acrss the water
Report Check-InPerfect place to camp, with space to park. You have the view over Charlottetown, a place to make a fire, and if you're lucky you might be visited by a curious small red fox.
