Description

10 USD ppn. Three large camping areas on green lawn by the river with many trees for shade. Tables, benches, barbecue and fireplaces, shelters for rainy days, bar and restaurant. Electricity and water taps all around. Great hiking trails around with Polly, the friendliest dog of all. Cottages and cabins also available. Very nice place.

Latest Check-Ins

This place is open for camping but when we visited it was devoid of other campers and after looking at what it had to offer didn't consider it was worth the $10 pppn asked by the overseer on site. The ablutions in particular didn't rate this price so we moved on.

THIS PLACE IS CLOSED. The sign has been removed and there is an iron bar across the track.

Nice grassy place under big trees.
The shower was hot and the toilet clean.
Restaurant, Bar and chalets are closed and rundown.
They wait for a permit to maintain and refurbish everthing.
The guys working here are very friendly and helpful.
With some investment it could be a great place again.
The hike to the waterfall is closed.

Beautiful location and lots of space to put your car in a nice spot. They upgraded us to a family cottage because they didn't have water in the common showers. Very nice and helpful staff. Yes it is a bit run down but they are working very hard to renovate it. Kids loved the space to play around. Much recommended

We camped a night here. Very happy to have found this place. It was quiet, grassy campsite with lots of big trees. Johnson made us a fire and lit the donkey for hot water. I would recommend this place if you are looking for somewhere to stay near Iringa. $10pp camping, $40 to stay in a room

I don't understand why the bad comments from 2018. This is one of the most pleasant and bucolic campsites I've been in Tanzania, and I've been to more than 50 of them. There are 3 large green lawn areas for camping, all by the river and with shaded trees all around. Many tables, benches, barbecue and fireplaces, a bar and restaurant and free wifi (because of covid the 3 latter are not working). Toilets and hot showers were also fine. There's even a place for washing our dishes standing (a first one in Tanzania!). Very small detour from the main road on a great gravel road and we can't hear the trucks at all. We decided to stay 2 nights as the hiking to the rapids (free) and the Small Isimila stone pillars were surprisingly nice (10,000tzs pp) (we've uploaded our tracks to Wikiloc). Sadly enough we were the first clients of the whole 2020. Price still 10 USD ppn which is quite fair for Tanzania standards.

Nice quit green campsite. friendly people who made big campfire for us. Brown dog Polly still alive. they tried to make hot shower with another fire but the system isnt working. Long rope for the elextricity to our car. Good place for African experience. if you need luxery experience skip.

The best days have gone… Once it must have been a lovely place. Now the facts: payed 50‘000 Schilling for 2 children and 2 adults, (they asked for 10 US $ pppn also for children). Ablution in poor condition, warm water in shower. The restaurant doesn‘t existe, WLAN you have to pay for. Nice lawn under shady trees.

This place has gone downhill big time in the last 5 years. All the thatch on the Banda's is rotten, the place is looking shabby and the service is poor. The manager is absent - never a good sign. After arrival we had to remind the staff to light the donkey for hot water, they then took an hour to do nothing, eventually they started to collect wet firewood which they couldn't light.... Finally hot water was available after we had eaten - but it was immediately used up by the staff themselves. We plugged in and heated our own water, but that's only because we have that luxury and spare water available.
Cold water only the next morning too.
We had been going to stay another night but the staff started laying out tables and chairs around our truck for a group of 65 who would be staying. With just 2 working showers and loos we decided to leave.
The price is now 10USD per person.
We ate in the restaurant -half a chicken and chips for 15000 Tsh each, not too badly cooked.

Meh. Alright for a stopover. Campsite was dirty, rubbish littered. Ablutions are decent enough. Was told we could not order dinner, only chips. $6 pppn.
