CAMPING NOT OFFERED ANYMORE
Wonderful place at the Zambezi. It's a selfcatering lodge with several nice stonechalets. For camping there is one place with a very nice roofthatched lapa with comfortable chairs and a table. You can use the shower and kitchen of the chalet. Power is in the chalet as well water. It's indeed a relaxing place. Hippos at night are coming out and eating gras, elefants nearby sometimes. We stayed 4 nights. The place is in the GMA about 15km next to the Lower Zambezi westgate. 10$ ppN.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Since the last entry was quite dated, we contacted them by phone and they said they are not operating a campsite.
Still available for camping. Sunset boat trip was nice. Canoeing is not available from here, we went to Mukuyu camp for an overnight trip.
Report Check-InAs below, but don’t take camping here for granted. Staff initially said ‘fully booked’ but they were empty - talked it through a bit with humour - and only after a phone call to the owner could we camp. You can use the cold shower and kitchen in the run down chalet at the end, and share this small sloping area with other campers. But you get a great shaded area with furniture and are right on a beautiful piece of river bank. Firewood provided.
Staff are really nice, we meet the owners ( Landy lovers!) and they treated us like royalty. 5 night stay was really wonderful due to their lovely natures and family atmosphere.
100pppn, boat as below, we used 9 litres on their small boat. Fishing is best done away from the lodge, down river.
Hands down the nicest place we have stayed at in Zambia! It’s situated on the Zambezi river and you can see elephants and hippos from the camp spot. We parked our car with RTT right on the edge of the riverbank. The friendly staff gave us free firewood and opened a chalet for us to use the bathroom / electricity power points. There is also a nice big Banda / lapa with chairs and tables that you are free to use. Closer to reception there is a small swimming pool that campers are free to use too. All this for just 100 kwacha pppn. Highly recommended for small groups! Larger groups might struggle to find enough space to camp.
Report Check-InVery good budget option if you want to visit the nationalpark or do boat activities on the Zambezi. You can camp directly at the lakefront with your car. Also possible for groundtents (hippos, and elephant have been in the camp :-))
Really nice to camp with noises of wildlife
100 Kwacha ppn, hot shower and toilet in bungalow
very nice area where you can do a camfire or just relax in daytime
If you don't want to visit the NP you can do game drive in the GMA area in which the camp is ( I think it is free of charge)
Boat trips: 200 per hour for the boat, 18 kwacha per liter petrol
we used 16l for 2 hours boat trip
boat fits up to 8 people
they dont have canoes but can arrange trips with the guide:
1200 Kwacha ppn if you want to do full day with overnight camping on an island
(start 6 am because you go 30 km by canoe)
400 ppn for 3 hours canoe trip (start 2pm)
it is downstream and they bring you back by motorboat
you can also book multiday canoe safaris!
