Description

If you drive just a half a mile or so down the dirt road, you'll see a pull off. There are fire pits and space to pitch a tent, but I just camped in my van. It's far enough away from the road that you can't hear the traffic but you can see the lights.
I had LTE phone service with Project Fi.

Don’t know if the road has gotten a lot worse but was not at all confident in my cars ability to make it down coming from the highway. Definitely need 4wd and high clearance. Large rocks and dips while going up hill.

Good spot for the night made it up to the first spot in minivan. Road noise is minimal. I could hear wind but I think this spot may be shielded from it

Nice spot off the main road. Can still hear cars go by but it’s not terrible. The gravel road is quite uneven and has huge rocks. Didn’t have 4WD and still made it fine. Passed one other spot to park but road goes on for a while. Fairly even space to park a van. Not tons of room for RV. Could scrounge up a place to put a tent.

Nice place to spend the night before going to Carlsbad Caverns. A little road noise, but not too bad. The road definitely get much rougher past this point.

Beautiful spot with cell service. The wind wasn't bad for us, but could see how it could be. Road traffic wasn't too bad considering how close we are to the road.

Really beautiful spot. Super peaceful and quiet. Yes there is a highway nearby, but it was quite minimal noise. Great T-Mobile internet and phone service. The road definitely gets rougher the further up you go. I'm in a little converted shuttle bus and made it up to spot four and I don't think I would have wanted to go any further. I stayed in the second spot and in the fourth spot and each was quite lovely. Stayed a total of three nights. Pretty level and gorgeous views. Highly recommended! I see that others have mentioned wind, but there wasn't really any when I was here. I guess it's just going to depend on the weather! About 25 minutes from Carlsbad Caverns.

HOLY WIND! Great spot if you luck out on a night that’s not windy. need clearance, road gets worse the further up you go. I opted for a lower spot because it was so windy, had it been calmer I would have kept going. I did drive up to the top just to check the view and for a bit of 4x4 fun and would recommend if your vehicle has the clearance.

Wat 3 spots on this gravel road uphill are manageable to get to but after that it probably requires 4x4. Great views but if it’s windy don’t recommend

Easy BLM Camping. first site is rather close to the road but very accessible by car. arrived at night so we chose not to adventure and take the 1st space. Great to be so close to the Caverns

Not a dirt road! This is a rocky desert road that is uneven throughout. Barely made it up the first little crest with my prius—just far enough off the highway to make for an almost quiet night. Would not recommend for anyone in a 2WD vehicle or if you’re towing, unless you don’t mind staying pretty close to the main drag here.

best spot here, not so much highway noise at the bottom and still avoiding the high winds up higher. Road not great but passable. Not great but good LTE. Take your trash, my gosh. Really?

One great spot, was driving by and flipped a U-turn upon seeing a camper. Lots of spots and great views. 4x4 recommended but not required as there was a Prius below me but to get to the top 4x4, dry camping no facilities spots all the way to the top nice and spread out

We are in a Promaster front wheel drive. We pulled into the second spot just on top of a little hill. It is windy here, but we just opened the windows to enjoy it before sundown. 17 minutes from the visitor center parking lot.

Flat parking spots great for vans, quiet and relaxing, great views. Road is too steep and rough for RV's. Closest toilet at white City's public restrooms.

Great place on a hill. Great views of sunrise with mist in the plains. Very quiet, can hear light traffic from hwy, but hardly any at night.
