Off the highway a little path that takes you to an open space. Beautiful and quiet at night!

From previous comments we wanted to stay near the bridge and river. The spot on the south side of the road is a bit sandy and no good place to turn around so would only recommend for smaller rigs. There is another spot on the north side however that worked well for us (truck camper). It's a bit close to the road, but there is very little traffic on this road so it is very quiet here. Can walk down to the river under the bridge. Good for a night while travelling through.
Report Check-InExcellent location. Still alive !!! Use it !! It’s highly recommended !!!
Report Check-InVery quiet and good place to see sunrise and stars. I don’t go so far on the road because to much sand for my little van.
Report Check-InComing from huaco the road to the spot is the third dirt track after the bridge. Nice elevated spot with a good views
Report Check-InLike 900m eastwards there is a big beautiful place by the side of the river, with WATER this time of the year. Just keep going through the road until the bridge. After the bridge you'll see a Gauchito Gil by the river.
The entrance is a 100m eastwards the bridge.
Very nice place to stay a night. Quiet and private. Beautiful to be around sunset. Old explosion depot still there
Report Check-InWe stopped to check out this place but didn't camp here because we had more distance to cover. But it's a pretty cool and private spot away from the road. We didn't find the storage as mentioned but there are some crystal flakes/rocks in the area.
Report Check-InIf you go down to the wash you can follow it to an abandoned explosives storage yard. It is flat and open, but without much shade. We ended up snuggled between some trees in the wash that provided some nice shade. Dark and quiet at night.
Report Check-InFinally a break in the fences either side of the road! This is a narrow dirt track that leads to a number of potential sites to camp, all of them 100m to 300m off the road depending how far you want to go in. There is little traffic at night so very quiet. An ideal stopover for one night with views back west to the mountains.
