A lot of camping spots along the road and central parking area. Many with fire rings. National Forest land. Plenty of sun and room for all size vehicles. There are warning signs about potential closure of area if not kept clean, so please be respectful! Free. There is also a pay campground 1 mile further on the main road, but was closed when we visited.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Massive camping site there was probably close to 50 rigs here when we arrived on the 4th of July weekend a lot going on. Pretty amazing place to camp and despite being so close to people the way the sites are cut in there’s actually a fair bit of privacy. We stayed 2 nights and really loved this spot. There’s a trail that lead to the Trillium Lake Trail called the Trillium Bike Trail so you can take a short easy hike to the lake, ended up being about 5 miles round trip to make it down to the dam and the Hood viewpoint over the lake. If you gotta take a poop in the woods PLEASE go further than 10 feet from your campsite. Our site had a half-buried pile of poop and TP just at the edge of our campsite which isn’t cool. Pooping in the woods is cool but only if you dig a hole and don’t do it directly in the site people it’s not that hard.
Good mix of shade and sun and plenty of spots to hammock hood verizon cell coverage and decent ATT. Flat spots to park and room for everything from 1 man tent up to RVs. Highly recommend
what an amazing spot! even on a saturday night in July, we were able to snag a huge spot. it’s busy, but there’s so many spots to spread out. trees to string up hammocks, large fire ring (but be mindful of fire bans), level area for multiple vans or tents per site. at&t and verizon service. Mount Hood National Forest really delivers on the best dispersed spots! help keep this place clean and open :)
Report Check-InAs previously described. Very easy to get to, lots of very spacious spots, good condition road. Close to pay camping but these spots are nice enough that I wouldn’t spend the money on the other campground.
Report Check-InPlenty of spots here. Pretty busy but lots of space. As previously described.
Report Check-InLots of space. Some nice level sites all along an oval. Road has lots of deep pot holes, so take it slow. There are many other campers around, but if you don’t mind it is an easy, free place to spend a couple of nights.
Report Check-InNice open area, creek nearby. Nobody else here on Wednesday night in early november
Report Check-InNice place if you're ok with other campers being around. mid August on a Friday people are pretty spread out here. Wander off into the woods a bit to be greeted by human waste and tp which may get this place shut down. See the sign posted in the pictures here.
Report Check-InThis camp is about 1.5 miles from Trillium Lake (which is great because you can bypass the day use fee by just walking over)
The lots are various sizes, I'd estimate at least 25 sites. Ranging from heavily shaded to full sun. Plenty of spots for bigger rigs. The road and sites are very dusty, so beware of that. Many sites had fire rings, though do be sure to check for fire bans. A cop pulled up to my site the day I got there and said they make rounds every so often, I suspect to check for fires.
Do be mindful- the camp road (E Perry Vickers Rd) is an oval. If you go too far down the road before turning left to get to the other sites, it turns into a private road, It's very narrow, and there's no way to turn around.
There are no bathrooms or water at the campsite- however there are at Trillium Lake.
Report Check-InLots of spots to camp with various size lots. Here on a Thursday and it's also very busy.
Report Check-InSo many people!!! It's a Thursday afternoon in mid-June. There are lots of places to park, and it is close to the main road, but OMG, if it's peace and quiet and nature that you want, this isn't it. If you like RV parks, you'll like this place.
Report Check-Inbeautiful lake and view of mt. hood. however....
I was here on a Monday in July 2020. the area surrounding the lake had cars parked for MILES along the road. the lake itself was filled to the brim with people like a water park wave pool. I have never seen anything like it in the mountains and I am from California. wow.
Report Check-InLots of free places to camp all around the lake (some are flat and cleared out, and some are more in the trees). The actual "campground" is currently closed but there is lots of places all around.
Report Check-InA lot of trash is left around. There are lots of fire pits and areas to park rvs and tent camp. Signs are posted from the govt saying they are preparing to shut down this area to the public if people don’t clean up after themselves. It’s a great spot to sleep but if you go for a walk you’ll find toilet paper all over the trails. There are also thousand of different kinds of mushrooms growing everywhere here. It is quite a ways from the lake.
