Three hours north of Riohacha, on Cape La Vela, is what is known as The Sugar Pylon (el Pilón de Azúcar), a hill whose summit seems far away, but which can be reached on foot in only 15 minutes. The heights of this small mountain, characterized by its strong bracing winds, features altar to the Virgin of Fatima, as well as an impressive view of the Caribbean Sea.
