Latest Check-Ins

I drove this route today and no tolls at all. I am driving a Ugandan rental car, but the gate was open. I didn't like the roaf quality though. Driving south I saw Giraffes and Zebras.

Report Check-In

We made the decision to visit Lake Natron as one of the world's great spectacles. We did try to work out beforehand how much it would cost but as usual in Tanzania this was not very clear. on arrival at the gate as a foreign tourist with a foreign registered vehicle we had to pay 35 USD per person plus 20 USD for the vehicle. This is for the whole duration of your stay and not per night. So a total of 90USD for us 2 persons plus a vehicle. We paid this at the Maasai Giraffe Lodge campsite by card. You must also pay a 20USD guide fee per person and that guide then accompanies you on any trips you want to do so for us we paid 40USD to a local guide who accompanied us to the lake (we drove in our vehicle) and then the next day took us on a hike to the absolutely fabulous Ngaresero waterfall which we loved. we tipped him a further 20000 tsz at the end. We camped at Maasai Giraffe camp 10 USD pppn for 2 nights so another 40USD. There is also a WMA entry fee for Lake Natron of 35.4 USD plus VAT per person per night so for us this was a further 160USD. A total of 330USD for 2 nights camping at Lake Natron. This will hopefully prevent any surprises for future visitors! @a.truck.called.wanda

14.10.2022
The officer asked for 2Pax and one Landrover USD 90,- for government fees and at first USD 80,- for WMA. Did not ask, wether we will go to lodge(less fees with about USD 70) or campsite ( more expensive) One local guy helped us understanding the system. This system kills tourism because the location is not worth the money they ask for. Further fees are to be paid in case of any additional activities. At least the inhabitants nearly do have nothing from this money

The most ridiculous thing we have ever had to pay for and we are still angry about it. Charged us 90 dollars for 2 adults and a vehicle. No card only cash.
These people need to stop ripping Tourists off.

Report Check-In

Fees are as described above, but also a $20 vehicle fee. At current exchange we paid 198,000 shillings. The receipt system is now electronic and requires the toll officer to leave on a motorcycle to drive to where there is cell service to process the payment, then he will bring back the receipt to you.
