Description

Beautiful reserve with a lot of animals! $80 per person and $10 for a car. If you are a student you will pay $40 per person. After a day driving a game drive we asked where we could camp in the wild and than they offered to stay at the entrance of the park where we could use the toilet and be safe. You can also buy a beer for 200 shillings. We became friends with the manager and he arranged that we go for free to the Buffalo Spring Reserve the next day. We also spend an other night at the gate at the Samburu park. Very nice!

You can't pay with credit card, cash was accepted. 70,- pp and we didn't pay anything for the car, maybe they forgot. We saw a couple of animals we hadn't seen before but in general there were not so many around.

We liked this reserve a lot!
If you want to do a safari with a guide (with or without his safari landcruiser) we can recommend Ken (+254 728 286539). On one day we saw several cheetas and lions, even a leopard and all of the samburu special 5.

That's a gorgeous Reserve well worth visiting for it's landscapes and wildlife. Some endemic species that can only be found in Northern Kenya are abundant here: the beautiful reticulated giraffe, big Grevy Zebras, gerenuk gazelles, oryx and vulturine guineafowls. On top of that we saw many lions, one leopard and several elephants in our 2 night stay. The campsite is very nicely placed under acacia trees by the river although ablutions are quite run down.
