Latest Check-Ins

Spent the night here last night and woke up in the middle of the night getting a ticket wrote up for 60$ and then proceeded to watch the parking person go down the street doing the same thing to everyone else. I think Oceanside is cracking down on overnight stay because I just drive a normal van nothing tall or wide, I would recommend not staying here for the night unless you want a ticket for a ridiculous 60$

Ahh, contrasts.  I'm not sure whether it is a graceful transition or not, but here I am in Los Angeles after finally clearing a rather thorough search of my van at the border, driving some distance in a rather exhausted overwhelmed state, finding a Mexican restaurant to finally have a burrito as those aren't very available in Baja itself, driving some more, then consulting a wonderful app (I-Overlander) for a 'wild-camping' spot, and actually finding one!

.... I wake to The sound of sea lions, and the life-familiar clanking of halyards on masts, and an  interesting soft chatter, which has me think of perhaps a series of pairs of moms doing a slow jog while chatting.   When I get up and look up, I realize that it's a roost of special birds in the one tree directly above me, all making a special talk with each other.  They must be camera shy, cuz they all flew off only once I lifted my camera to take a picture of them! But they have a blessed me and my car and my boats incredibly!  And I'm pleased to say that I had a good deep long sleep!

.... Location... and some have mentioned, it is best to go along a bit further than where the marking is for this place. I am at the very bottom end of the Bay just before the road takes the first strong left turn and then another, right I can see various campers here and there throughout this area. Indeed, it seems a fantastic place to sleep.

Report Check-In

No oversized vehicle parking signs clearly shown along both sides of street.

Decided not to stay.

Quiet spot... the actual overnight rules are iffy... saw others that spent the night. We were pretty stealthy and it felt unpatrolled. Posted picture of sign so you decide.

Spent the night here. It’s really nice but I got a $58 ticket for a sprinter van because it’s too high. There are signs along the whole road on both sides of the street saying no vehicles over 7’ high, 7’wide and 25 long. I decided to take the risk. It’s much nicer than the parking on the beach. If you have a smaller vehicle you should have no problem. Anyways, I guess it was worth it. Slept to the sounds of sea lions, the sunset was amazing and it was really quiet all night.

Drive a little further down. This is a better location on this street after 10 p.m.

Got here at 4 P.M. There are section with signs that said "No Overnight Parking". Moved to another section that has signs that says "No Heavy vehicles parked overnight" Lots of traffic during daytime. Quiet and cool at night. Plenty of public restrooms that open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Nice and cool place to hang out. No Police came knocking. Slightly sloped parking.

We have taken sides here. Some other campers stood here, too. There is a sign which says no camping but as our prescribers have already written, it is probably related to tent.
There are pit toilets and some restaurants around it.
There is also the Oceanview Police on this site. We stood here a very relaxed and quiet night.
On the other side you have to pay $20 dollars for parking for the night and $10 for the day until a certain time.

There are also sea lions here and you can hear them at night. Very cute!
Friendly people :-

Freundliche Menschen :-)

Nice spot with view on the marina. Some passing cars shaking the van. We slept with the noise of the sea lions arguing all night long. People coming to see the sea lions in the daytime.
