Description

Nice campground in lovely National Park. Good facilities including a cheap coin operated washer and dryer. Also has a kitchen area with instant hot water, fridge, deep freeze, hot plates and a microwave. Nice hot showers and even bath tubs if you prefer! Campsites are pretty close together, all have a portable braai, electric (standard SA 3 prong 220 plugs). No picnic tables or chairs. Most sites have at least some shade, but it would pay to get here a bit early during holiday season to get a good spot.

Shop at reception has basics, ice, snacks, drinks and an espresso machine! There is also a nice looking restaurant and a swimming pool for the warmer months. It does occassionally snow here July-Sept, this park is higher elevation than many others, so bring warm weather gear.

Best 4g signal from MTN (25 MB/s). Decent 3g signal from vodacom. Big rigs may have to watch for the occassional low branch, but otherwise shouldn't have trouble. No bicycles, no motorcycles allowed, please dont feed the lions.

As of May 2019 - campsites are R300, plus daily entrance fees. See sanparks website for most up to date prices.

Very scenic national park. Somewhat loveless campsite. The pitches are small and very close together. The driveway and some pitches on the campsite are suitable for BigRigs.

Price - R361 for a night and an extra R68 for park entrance
How to Book - book on the SANParks website https://www.sanparks.org/parks/mountain_zebra/
Unique things - well, you're in a park, can't beat that
Ablutions - look like they have been updated and fairly decent, 4 showers, 2 Baths for men
Better sites - all of them are pretty similar, some don't have taps near
Access - off main road 1,8km and another 16km to campsite. Lots of ruts 6.5/10
Internet - intermittent

we stayed 2 nights and we loved it ! for us, perfect campiste. clean, hot, modern and new ablutions block (baths and showers), laundry (wash machine at 15 rands paid by credit card in the reception), kitchen fully equiped (fridge, freezer, water boiler, gas, microwave,...). ciment platform for caravan or tent, braï, table and chair, water tap, electricity, garbage bin for every site. amazing view on the mountains. quiet with shade and lot of birds. just be careful : the velvet monkeys open the windows, the doors and the tents :-(
small shop, reception, restaurant and beautiful & clean swimming pool at walking distance. 360 rands for 2 people and 1 car by internet (380 at the reception). wildcard for the park fees. amazing NP with rhinos, elands, kudus, mountain zebras, lions... and beautiful surroundings. we recommend at 1000% !

Report Check-In

The ablutions are now fully renovated and are very good. Otherwise, as per comments below.

As described previously. Just adding that electric plugs in spots are the regular SA ones, not the caravan ones, which I found great! Male bathrooms are being renewed so it was kind of annoying but it's not supposed to last long. Also, there's great Vodacom internet signal in the campsite and most parts of the park. This park is really beautiful, folks! We saw loads of black wildebeests, blesboks, springboks and mountain zebras. Some buffalos, elands, kudus, gray cranes, mongooses, meerkats and even a cheetah. No lions though they are there! The landscape is stunning really!

Great Place, the previous comments described it perfectly.

Everyting aß expected after reading the previous posts. :-)

Nice enough typical SANP campsite. Clean but soulless ablutions, kitchen and laundry. Sites are on hard stand or sand/gravel - no grass, some shaded by trees. Vervet monkeys roam the site and are quick to steal anything edible in/on your vehicle or tent. Nice pool within walking distance near chalets. Quite expensive camping at R404 per night for two and that with a SA Wild Card which covers SANP conservation fees.

Report Check-In

As posted before. Not too many shady spots but nice nationalpark with beautiful scenery. Well maintained swimming pools.
Token for washing machine is 15 R now, make sure they only charge you this price. The price which we have been told were 30 R, so they doubled it with no reason.

Report Check-In

Quality facilities as you expect from Sanparks. Really great camp site and Park. We will be back again. Restuarant serves the greatest lamb shank.

Report Check-In

Campground like most other san-Parks.
Klean, a little bit outdated, but fine.

330 Rand (2pax+travelcar)

Report Check-In

Not a bad campsite, but lacking in fluffy grass for those of us in ground tents. Not very private, but we were here in the off season, so there was plenty of space to spread out. Itd definitely be cramped and noisy over school holidays. We enjoyed the cheetah tracking and night drive, guides were knowledgeable and fun. Besides, where else in the world do you get the opportunity to stand 8m from a cheetah in the wild? Also, much quieter park than Addo, no elephants, but otherwise similar wildlife to see.

Report Check-In

330 for 1 person. Too expensive for what you get. Sites are really small, if this place is full you will definitely hear you neighbor fart... Good facilities.

Report Check-In

Love this place! The rugged mountain scenery is spectacular. The wildlife plentiful and quite easy to find (so few trees and bush.) The camp very peaceful. Two nice hikes with grand views in the rest camp. Saw two cheetah gazing over the valley quite close to the road up on Kranskloof... was fantastic! 4x4 trails available and challenging. Definitely worth spending a few days here although it is a small park the variety keeps it very interesting.

Report Check-In

Typical Sanparks campsite. Neat with clean ablutions. We paid R300 for2 people.

Report Check-In

Very friendly staff. We came one hour after closing and were still wellcome. Not very stylish restaurant with good kitchen and no license but you may bring your red wine with you.
