As of August 2018 you can no longer camp on the first 12 miles of the main forest road off of Highway 1
This spot is on a side road and legal to camp if you don't want to drive the 12 miles
Road is marked 4x4 only but you could get here in anything when it's dry, it's only 1:4 mile from the 4x4 turnoff, lots of others spots up this road as well
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Road up here is closed for now. Also roadwork on Highway 1 so you can't continue and have to turn all the way back (>35miles) . A lot of sideroads closeby are closed as well for now.
Report Check-InThe coast ridge trail was closed because of the lot of rain in the last days, so I slept on Nacimiento closer to the ocean, as did at least two other vans. But we have been woke up at 7:30 in the morning by a park ranger since we can't camp there... The ranger was very friendly though.
